Joseph V. DelGatto

Joseph V. DelGatto Beloved son and brother MANCHESTER - Joseph V. DelGatto, 76, died on Nov. 18, 2009 at the House of John in Clifton Springs. Joseph was born Jan. 22, 1933 in Manchester and was the son of Anthony and Assunta DelGatto. He was a graduate of Red Jacket Central School, class of 1951, and then earned a degree in chemical engineering from Clarkson College. He served two years in the U.S. Army with the rank of captain while stationed in France. Upon his return, Joseph worked for Colgate Chemical Company and then pursued a career in journalism with McGraw-Hill and E-E Product News as chief editor. He retired to his home in New York in 2003. His love of life was opera and music. He is survived by his mother, Assunta; two brothers, Vincent (Carol) DelGatto and Anthony DelGatto; aunt, Josephine Truini; uncle, Louis Sementilli; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Anthony. There will be no calling hours. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, November 21, at 10 a.m. at St. Dominic Church, West Main Street, Shortsville. Burial will follow in St. Rose Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joseph's memory may be made to House of John, 14 Spring St., Clifton Springs, NY 14432.
