Joseph was born Jan 21, 1926 in New Britain, to the late parents of Dominic and Mary (Zambino) previously residing in New Britain. He graduated from New Britain High School. Mr. Diorio was employed by The New Britain Herald as Foreman of the Composing Room and a member of the Communications Workers of America, AFL/CIO union. He was a proud veteran of WWII and The Korean War having served in the US Navy. Joseph served on the Board of Fire Commissioners for the City of New Britain. He was a member of Knight of Columbus and the ARRL Ham Radio Organization. Joseph was a lifelong New York Yankees fan and an avid UConn Basketball fan. Joseph is survived and will be dearly missed by his wife Margery Diorio, his daughter Lisa and her husband David Caron of Plainville, and 2 sons: Joseph and his wife Mary Ann Diorio of Newington, and Michael Diorio of Waterbury, brother Dominic and his wife Janice Diorio of Florida, 9 grandchildren Joseph, Nicholas, Caitlin, Meghan, Mark, and Brittany Diorio, David and Sarah Caron and Michael Cobuzzi; 3 great-grandchildren Jacqueline Diorio, Mark G. Diorio III and Stella Cobuzzi. He was predeceased by his son Mark G. Diorio Sr. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the United States Department of Veteran Affairs. The family would like to thank the staff of Apple Rehab in Plainville for their kindness and compassion during Joseph's stay.
Funeral services will be held on Friday October 12, 2018 with a time of visitation from 9 Am to 10:30 AM at the New Britain Memorial-Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home 444 Farmington Ave. New Britain followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM St. Francis Roman Catholic Church 1755 Stanley St, New Britain.
