Joseph Fida Obituary

Joseph A. (Fidanzato) Fida, 79, of Monongahela, died Wednesday, March 27, 2002, at The Residence At Hilltop in Carroll Township. Born May 3, 1922, in Monongahela, he was the son of the late Giuseppe A. and Assunta Micca Fidanzato. In 1971, he founded Joe Fida's Auto Plate and Notary Service in Monongahela, with three additional stores now in Washington, Uniontown and Belle Vernon. Mr. Fida served in the U.S. Army as a PFC during World War II, was active in forming the Mon Valley-Florida reunion committee, and was an avid golfer. Survivors include Donna Brant Fida, whom he married in April 1951; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Lynn Fidanzato of Wanchese, N.C., and Joseph and Sue Brusco of Forest Hills; five daughters and four sons-in-law, Joanne and John Alberti of Wexford, Suzanne and Allen Toy of Cadogen, Sherri and Oscar Beall of Charleroi, Carol and Mark Flament of Monongahela, and Mary Fida of Charleroi; four brothers, Ralph and Michael Fidanzato of New York, Patsy Fidanzato of Monongahela, and Carmen Fidanzato of Florida; two sisters, Sese Lignelli of Florida and Ann Todora of New Eagle; 14 grandchildren, Mark and Jimmy Edwards, Richy and Danielle Boyles, Kelly Jo Shoop, Tracey Balsone, Kerry Ann Toy, Max and Michael Brown, Jessica Haller, Joey Brusco, Toni Jo and Gary Beall, and Amanda Jo Flament; four great-grandchildren, William Fly III, Harrison Shoop, Warren Anthony Brown and Delaney Haller. Friends will be received in the MARSHALL MARRA FUNERAL HOME, 216 Chess St., Monongahela, from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Family and friends are asked to meet at the Free Methodist Church, 40 Second St., Monongahela, on Saturday, March 30, for an 11 a.m. service with the Rev. Cathy Peternal officiating. Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Free Methodist Church, Monongahela, or to the church's food bank.
