Joseph Guido, 80
He had a passion for classic cars; was lead singer in his band
Joseph T. Guido, age 80, passed away on January 24, 2021.
He was the devoted son of the late Thomas Guido and Anna Guido Pompa. He was the beloved husband of Ruth Guido (nee Amon) of 56 years. He was the cherished father of Ruth Ann Guido and Laura McCarron and her husband Brian. He was the dear brother of Bruce Rallo and the late Joseph Pompa, Vincent Pompa, Fortunata Weiss and Thomas Rallo. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.
Joe was born in Brooklyn, NY and at 2 months old his family moved to Jersey City, NJ. After his father's untimely death his mother Anna remarried and the new family relocated to Graniteville on Staten Island. He attended and graduated from Port Richmond High School. Joe married Ruth Amon in 1964 and they moved to Brick Township, NJ. After a short stay in New Jersey they realized they belonged on Staten Island. They built a home in Pleasant Plains in 1980 where they resided until Joe's passing.
Joe had a tremendous work ethic from an early age. He was an insurance adjuster for many years, working for Allstate, Continental and the Hartford. Before retiring he worked as an off lease inspector for about ten years for Alliance Inspection Management. He also worked many years part time at Ideal Auto Body.
Joe had a strong passion for classic cars. He owned a 1993 classic Lincoln Town Car and a 1978 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz. He also loved listening and playing classic country music. In fact, he was the lead singer of his band, Joe Thomas and the Country Playboys. Joe and his family would go to Ridin-Hy Ranch in Warrensburg, NY and enjoy many wonderful family vacations. He loved all animals specifically horses. Furthermore, he rode his horse in the Travis Fourth of July parade that is held on Staten Island. He also cared for his German Shepard dogs. To those closest to him, Joe will be remembered as a fun loving man who always seemed to be able to put a smile on your face. He was known to enjoy a good scotch while spending quality time with family and friends. He will be dearly missed.

My sincerest condolences to Ruth, family and friends. I only knew Joe for a short period of time. I was introduced to Joe by Ruth at Seaview Nursing Home. He seemed to be a very kind and gentle person that you would instantly take a liking to. He was sweet. May he forever rest in peace.
