Joseph M. Kassa Jr.

Joseph Michael Kassa Jr., 63, of Donora, passed away suddenly Thursday, April 11, 2013, at his home. A son of Mary M. Sambol Kassa and the late Joseph Michael Kassa Sr., he was born Aug. 26, 1949, in Charleroi. Joe was a 1967 graduate of Mon Valley High School, and graduated with his B.S. in Education from the University of Pittsburgh and received his master's in Mathematics from Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab. Joe was a teacher in the Baltimore City School District for 25 years. Upon his retirement, he returned to the Mon Valley. In addition to his mother, survivors include his son, Jason Kassa of Charleroi; a granddaughter, Nicolette Kassa of New York; brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul and Annette Kassa of Stevensville, Md., and Andrew and Edie Kassa of Monongahela; nephews, Devin, Sam, and Luke Kassa; nieces, Kaylee and Andrea Kassa; and special friend, Nancy Underwood. Friends will be received Monday 3 p.m. until time of blessing service at 6 p.m. at the ANTHONY L. MASSAFRA FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES INC., 40 Second Street Ext.; Carroll Township, Donora, PA 15033, 724-379-6900, with the Rev. Father Pierre Falkenhan officiating.
