Mr. Legueri was a mentor to me. He was there during a difficult family situation. He was always positive and every student had high respect for him. He hand wrote his own English assignments and then copied them. He's the only one who could make you feel good about getting an F; I was terrible at literature. And yet somehow, he managed to talk me into taking his AP English class even though I was a poor English student and thought it was a crazy idea. His class saved me during my years in college, and ironically, I ended up majoring in English! That likely would've never happened if he wasn't in my path. He had a special gift. So many students were fortunate to have crossed paths with him.

So sorry for Joe´s family. He will be missed by so many. What a wonderful legacy of memories he leaves for all of us who were fortunate enough to have him as a teacher. Joe, you were always there for us and our children with those extra steps you willingly and happily took to assure best outcomes. You´ve earned your wings.

I was lucky enough to be a student of Mr. Leguri. And years later, he came into the store I work at. After that, he would go out of his way, to make sure he came in to say hi.

Remember the quizzes? A, B, C ?
He gave the quizzes to research each students' grammar, spelling, punctuation. He then tailored lessons for each student. He was meant to be a mentor. We at Bi-Hi were so fortunate. I'm sure so many former students feel the same. The heck you say?

Sympathies to Shirley and the family. Joe was a wonderful teacher, mentor, and friend. He knew every student, their quirks, and how to challenge them to dig even deeper. We would often go to class early simply to spend more time with him. He and Shirley make a mean pizza roll spread and made you feel like the most interesting people in the world when you went to visit. He will be dearly missed and made such an impact on so many.

A wonderful teacher. A wonderful neighbor. He touched so many lives. His light will shine on.
My deepest sympathy to Shirley, family and loved ones.
