Joseph Polito, Jr. Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 12, 2024.
Joseph George Polito, Jr, 79, of Dallas, TX, went to be with the Lord on March 9, 2024. Joe was born on October 28, 1944 in Houston, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Josephine Polito. He will be missed on this earth by his daughter Lara Polito (Dallas), his son Nick Polito and wife Sunny (Dallas), his former wife and dearest friend Susan Polito (Dallas), his five grandchildren: Katy Edmondson and husband Ryan (Scroggins), Christopher Polito (Los Angeles, CA), Hannah Van Kirk, Luke Polito and Campbell Polito (all of Dallas), one great-grandson August Edmondson (Scroggins), his siblings: Dorothy Bartkowiak (Ft. Worth), Mary Catherine Reeves and husband Bill (Georgetown), Nickey Polito and wife Cathy (Colleyville), and Linda Polito (Ft. Worth), and numerous loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Joe grew up in Houston, graduating from Marian High School in 1962 and from Texas A&M University, where he was in the Corps and earned a business degree, in 1966. He served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army from 1967 to 1969 which took him and his wife Susan to Anchorage, Alaska where Lara and Nick were born. The family returned to Texas in 1969 and Joe began his career in sales which he finished with a decades-long stint at S&H Flooring until he retired in late 2023.

Whether you knew him as Joe, Dad, Uncle Joe or Paw Paw, you knew he had a great big heart, a very sweet nature, a strong faith in Jesus, a love of movies (especially old westerns), and a true passion for wine. He was thoughtful, generous, kind and extremely considerate of others, and he was also a strong supporter of women. He loved his family and friends deeply, and he instilled in his children the value of working hard and taking pride in that work. Joe was an avid wine collector and his eyes lit up when he talked about the art of wine. He also loved his music - and he loved it loud! Willie, Waylon, Billy Joel, the Eagles...he loved them all. And it brought him great joy to share a special bottle of wine with the people he loved while listening to his favorite tunes. Joe's smiling eyes, great laugh and kind heart will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 25, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church - Richardson, 503 N. Central Expressway, Richardson, TX 75080.

So grateful to have a loving father that showed me how much he loved me both with his words and actions. The last few months he taught me about faith, perseverance and humility. How much grace he gave me throughout the years and welcomed me back into his life with open arms.
Thank you, Dad, for always being there, helping take care of Katy and protecting her when I couldn't.
See you in Heaven, Daddy! Sending lots of love!

I met Joe over 25 years ago when he was our mill rep. He became a great friend and ended up coming to work with us. Over 20 years we worked together and we had so many laughs. He will be truly missed by all of us at S & H and Peeks.

Joe was one-of-a-kind... funny, loving, generous to a fault, and dearly loved his family. I was honored to become an honorary Polito when my daughter Sunny married Joe´s son Nick. Thank you for that & for sharing all your family with me. I will miss you, Joe. God´s Peace & Comfort be with your family as you rest in the arms of Jesus.
