Joseph Allen Schwartz passed away peacefully on May 23rd, 2024 in Bozeman, Montana. Joe was surrounded by his family and on the phone with his massive network of family, friends, and colleagues until the very last. Joe was 89 years old and looking forward to his 90's and beyond. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn "Carrie" Schwartz, his daughters Christina Price, Maggie Raker and Heidi Goldstein, his sons John Schwartz and Andy Raker along with his grandchildren Rhys, Crosby and Henry Price, Coco and Asher Schwartz, Isabelle, Olivia and Joshua Goldstein and Cloe Raker. Joe is also survived by his sister Barbara Goldstein. Joe left his mark on this world through friendship and laughter. His ability to connect with people from all over the world and many walks of life was truly his super power. He was deeply loved by many and will be dearly missed.

Joe grew up in Dorchester, Massachusetts and attended Tabor Academy in Marion, Massachusetts. At Tabor Joseph "Red" Schwartz stood out as a star athlete and running back on the football team. He joked that he was the only Jewish running back in the entire New England prep school football league in the late 1940's. After Tabor, Joe attended Tufts University in Boston where he played football as well. He was drafted into the Army during peacetime and played football in the Army. He joked that it was the best assignment a soldier could get.

Joe was a true raconteur. He could tell a story with the best of them, and had many stories to tell. He was a voracious networker and friend to many. He didn't separate friends from business relationships. He treated everyone the same; another human to connect to, share the ups and downs of life, have fun, eat well, and do a little business along the way.

He managed to socialize all over New England including Boston, Cape Cod, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. He moved to Chicago as a young man where he worked in the wire-cable and metal scrap industries. While in Chicago he met Carrie Lindsay Schwartz, who was the true love of his life. They had two children, John and Christina, and moved around quite a bit, ending up in East Greenwich, Rhode Island. Providing a great education and opportunities was a big priority for Joe, and he and Carrie sacrificed much to provide them. He sent both children to private high school and college, and was an avid parent on the sidelines of many soccer, hockey, and lacrosse games.

After retiring from a long and successful career in sales and relationship management in New Jersey and New York, Joe and Carrie moved to Bozeman, Montana to be closer to their daughter and grandchildren. In Bozeman Joe built many strong friendships, and continued to entertain and bewilder young and old alike with his stories and memories from a life well-lived, and always shared with his friends and family.
