Joseph Sciara Obituary

Joseph S. Sciara, 86, of Collierville, TN passed away with family by his side on December 23, 2022, at Methodist Hospice Residence following a four year illness with Parkinson's.

He was preceded in death by his parents Steve and Eva Jewel (Tilley) Sciara, daughter Lisa Hassell, brother Sammy Sciara and half-brother Pete Sciara.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Helen Sciara, son Stephen Sciara (Vicki) Memphis, daughter, Laura Johnson of Kentucky, stepchildren, Phil Feisal (Katrina) of Saluda, NC, Ann Heuberger (Mark) of Collierville, Vicki Johnson of Germantown, many grandchildren and great children and special "like a daughter" Anna Tate Patterson of Collierville.

Joe was a longtime member of Buntyn Presbyterian Church. He served as an Elder and was active in the Men's Ministry for many years.

He graduated from Catholic High and went on to have a successful 50+ years in the insurance industry as owner of Joe S. Sciara Insurance Agency prior to joining Clay and Land Insurance Agency for his final five years in business.

His favorite days were spent for 30+ years with friends and family at their cabin in the woods at Pickwick. He loved to fish, hunt, build and ride his big John Deere Tractor.

Our family would like to thank the staff of Methodist Home Hospice and Methodist Hospice Residence for their love and care during this past year.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 2023 at Memorial Park Cemetery. The visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Memorials can be made to Buntyn Presbyterian Church, 561 Prescott, Memphis TN 38111.
