Joseph Smith Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 20, 2009.
Joseph Warren Smith, 44, died September 20, 2009 in a tragic car accident. “Joey was born November 16, 1964, in Hopewell, VA, to Thomas Richard Smith, Sr. and Alta Ruth Ange Smith at John Randolph Hospital. He was extremely proud to be a member of Millwright Union Local 1402, what he called, “God’s chosen few. He also was a member of the Church of Christ and enjoyed a good hard day’s work. His heart was warm and kind and he has left us far too soon. Joey loved his Mom and Dad, his wife, his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed making friends and sharing life stories. He always told a good story and was a gentle man with a natural gift for making us laugh. He will be missed greatly by his family and everyone who knew him. Joey is survived by his wife Lisa Reny Smith, sons; Denis Smith and James Smith, daughters; Heather Ward and Melissa Smith Martin, son- in- law; Brandon Martin, sister, Wanda Smith Witherspoon, brothers; Thomas R. Smith, Jr., Larry Smith, and Kyle Smith, and five grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 PM, Thursday, September 24, 2009 at Nelsen Funeral Home 214 N. 6th Avenue, Hopewell, VA . Funeral services will be conducted 11:00AM Friday, September 25, 2009 at Cameron Avenue Church of Christ, Colonial Heights, VA with Mark Dailey officiating. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation; Virginia Chapter, 2727 Enterprise Parkway, Suite 104, Richmond, VA 23294. www.ccf.org.
