Joseph Philip Testa, 78, of Bristol, beloved husband of Theresa (Lemanowski) Testa, died on Friday (July 31, 2015) at home after a courageous battle with Parkinson Disease. Joe was born in Hartford on January 29, 1937 and was a one of two children of the late Philip and Frances (Alderucci) Testa. He was a longtime Bristol resident and worked in the Information Technology field for Aetna. After his retirement, he was a partner in Testa & Wright Construction. Later, he returned to IT consulting work until 2003. He was an active member of St. Stanislaus Church and served on the parish council and finance board for several years. He supported the American Red Cross as a six-gallon blood donor. Joe was known as a real family man and a gentleman. He was a devoted, life-long and, at times, exasperated fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New York Giants. Joe loved the ocean and enjoyed spending as much time as possible at their beloved vacation home in Charlestown, RI, entertaining family and friends and running their small antique and gift shop, Treasure Time. Throughout their 53-year marriage, Terry and Joe's complete devotion to each other has been an inspiration to all who have known them. In addition to his wife, he leaves two daughters and sons-in-law: Dawn and Michael Nelson of Shrewsbury, MA, and Jane and James Moreno of Farmington; a son and daughter-in-law: Steven and Julie Testa of Cromwell; his sister: Elisabeth "Betty" Testa and her longtime companion, Craig Wallsten of Rocky Hill. He also leaves his nine beloved grandchildren: Elisabeth, Jenna, Sara, and Matthew Nelson; Joshua, Megan, and Christopher Moreno; and Sophia and Cameron Testa. Joe's family would like to thank their many friends and family who supported them and send a special thank you to Jill Lincoln from Bristol Hospital Home Care and Hospice as well as Synergy HomeCare and his compassionate caregivers, Marissa, Lynn and Pam. Thank you also to Fr. Raymond Smialowski for his kindness and support. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday (August 4, 2015) at 10 AM from Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, to St. Stanislaus Church, 510 West St., Bristol, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. Relatives and friends may call at Funk Funeral Home on Monday between 5 and 8 PM. Memorial donations may be made to Bristol Hospital Home Care and Hospice, PO Box 977, Bristol, CT 06010, or to St. Stanislaus Church, 510 West St., Bristol, CT 06010. Uncle Joe was a great man... He will be missed. What i remember most is his sense of humor in dealing with Parkinsons. and how and mom would joke with one another until her death. My deepest sympathies to everyone who knew and loved uncle Joe. Love Denise.

I worked for Joe back in the early 90s at Aetna. Of my many bosses over the years, Joe is the one that always brings the fondest of memories. Working for him was a pleasure, and always an adventure.

My deepest condolences to his wife, daughters and son.
