Joseph Vernier
Joseph F. Vernier, 60, of St. Peters, Mo., formerly of Cape Girardeau, Mo., and Belleville, Ill., born Feb. 27, 1946, in Belleville, Ill., died Monday, July 31, 2006, at his residence.
Mr. Vernier was a retired consultant. He was also retired from Ryerson Steel Company, St. Louis, Mo. He was a member of Sts. Joachim and Ann Catholic Church, St. Peters, Mo., and a member of the Men's Club at the church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Cape Girardeau, Mo. Joe was an avid fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph A. and Frances, nee Buechler, Vernier.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Helen R., nee Ruethling, Vernier, whom he married Feb. 7, 1969; three daughters, Danielle (Mike) Goodman of Lebanon, Ill., Nicole (Chris) Gelven of St. Peters, Mo., and Katie Cook of Cottleville, Mo.; five grandchildren, Steven, Ellie, and Marie Cook, and Caleb and Cody Gelven; and two step-grandchildren, Kelly and Jared Goodman.
Memorials may be made to Quincy University, Attn: University Advancement, 1800 College Ave., Quincy, Ill., 62301.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 3, 2006, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill. A prayer service will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Funeral: Funeral procession will leave at 9:40 a.m. Friday, Aug. 4, 2006, from George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill., for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Teresa Catholic Church, Belleville, Ill., with the Rev. Oscar Lukefahr officiating. Burial will be at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, Ill.

My Dad was a wonderfull, caring, loving and fun man. He cherished both family and friends. He was so grateful to everyone who help shine light into his life during his final time, thanks to everyone. He was truely loved and will be dearly missed.

Dear Helen and family, I am so sadded by Joey's passing. Such a courageous guy who was so positive during all his treatments. I have wonderful memories of growing up and water skiing, ice skating and sledding with Joe. What a beautiful family you have and I know he will be dearly missed by everyone!!
