Josephine Jones

Josephine "Josie" Jones, born Josephine Zavala on December 9, 1954, in Yuma, Arizona, passed away on April 9, 2025, in her hometown. She was 70 years old.

Josie's life was deeply rooted in the community where she was born and raised. Her warmth and presence were a constant source of comfort and joy to those around her. Whether welcoming guests into her home or cheering from the sidelines at her grandchildren's events, Josie brought people together with grace and generosity.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband, David Jones; her son, Rudy Ortiz III (Lisa); and her daughter, Celina Kline (Chris). Josie was a proud grandmother to Evelynn, Courtney, Santiago, Ruby, and Jackson. Her siblings-Richard Zavala, Mary Zavala, Ralph Zavala, and Rose Jones-also carry forward her memory with affection.

Josie was preceded in death by her beloved grandmother Victoria De La Rocha, her mother Mercedes Zavala, and her brother Reymundo Lopez.

A woman of simple joys and deep devotion to family, Josie found delight in newspaper crossword puzzles and never missed an opportunity to support her grandchildren in all their endeavors. Her home was a gathering place filled with laughter and love-a reflection of the care she poured into every relationship.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date to honor Josie's memory among family and friends.
