In Loving Memory of Josephine "Jojo" Kitner Swacha

Born: May 5, 1945 – Sunset: September 7, 2025

It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Josephine Swacha, affectionately known as Jojo. Born on May 5, 1945, to Dorothy Kitner (Coyle) and William Coyle, Josephine entered eternal peace on September 7, 2025.

Raised in Pennsylvania by her mother Dorothy and grandmother Emma Klingensmith Kitner, Jojo grew up surrounded by love and strong family values. She later married Edward Swacha, with whom she shared many cherished years until his passing in 2004.

Jojo is preceded in death by her husband Edward, mother Dorothy, grandmother Emma, brothers John and Jeffrey Coyle, aunt Margaret (Peg) Bernhard, numerous aunts and uncles, and her beloved pug, P.J. Lil bit.

She is survived by her sister Jan Antoline(Ron), cousins Peggy Scott (Jerrell), Kent Peterson (Mary), and Bethann Peterson, along with nephews, great nieces and surrogate grandchildren who adored her deeply.

Jojo led a full and vibrant life. She met Edward in Pennsylvania, later moved to Colorado, and briefly lived in Baltimore before returning to Colorado-her forever home. She resided with cousin Kent and Mary Peterson until she required skilled care, spending her final seven years in a care facility she came to call home, forming lasting friendships with staff.

A kind and gentle soul, Jojo had an immense love for animals. She never met a four-legged creature she didn't want to adopt and often regaled family with stories about their daily adventures. Her pug P.J. was her pride and joy.

Jojo was also a gifted crocheter, creating beautiful Afghans that became treasured gifts among family. Her love for music filled her home-especially the sounds of Elvis and old gospel hymns, which she played with joy when no one else was around.

Her selfless spirit, warm heart, and unwavering kindness will be missed by all who knew her.

In keeping with Jojo's generous nature, she donated her remains to research and requested no burial services. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to your local humane society in her honor.
