SYCAMORE - Josephine T. Cornwall, 89 of Sycamore, died Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009, at Kishwaukee Community Hospital in DeKalb.

She was born July 16, 1920, in St. Charles, the daughter of Camiel and Bertha (DeClerck) Lievrouw. She was married to Carl Burns and later to Royal "Timber" Cornwall.

She worked at Seymour of Sycamore, retiring after 26 years of service. Josephine was a member of the Women of the Moose in Sycamore and various bowling leagues, including bowling on the Chicago Title and Trust team. She was a semi-professional baseball player during World War II with the "Lady Elgins" team. Josephine loved cats and will be missed by her faithful pet cat, Dale.

She is survived by her children, Pat (Judy) Burns of Wisconsin, Gail (Sabas) Knighton-Soto of Sycamore, Dave (Paula) Cornwall of Hinckley, Kathryn "Wisa" Kemnitz of Sycamore and Dan (Diane) Cornwall of LaSalle; 11 grandchildren, Vicki, Jeff, Craig, Brenda, Caron, Steve, Krystal, Kcee, Travis, Cassandra and Jacob; 16 great-grandchildren; one sister, Madeline Maddelein of Arizona; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands; one grandson, Dylan; and two brothers.

Her funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11, at Butala Funeral Home and Crematory in Sycamore, with Pastor Gary McKee officiating. Burial will be at River Hills Memorial Park in Batavia.

Her visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Butala Funeral Home.

A memorial has been established for Mrs. Cornwall in care of Butala Funeral Home and Crematory, 1405 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore, IL 60178.

Wisa, girls and family. I no longer live in the area, but still read the Chronicel. Gary and I just saw you at BigLots a few weeks back. We both send our condolences and love to you all. It has been 15 years since we lost Dad, 8 since mom joined him. God speed to you all.
