Joshua Daigle Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 7, 2011.
On Saturday March 5th, surrounded by family and friends, Joshua Adam Daigle, 20, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who he called his best friend, after a courageous battle with cancer. Visitation is Monday, March 7th in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church Lake Jackson from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The funeral services are, Tuesday, March 8th at 10:00 a.m. and also in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church. Graveside services will be at Restwood. Josh was born on March 16, 1990 in Houston, Texas to Rod and Penny Daigle. He temporarily leaves behind his parents and his sister Kelsey, who he loved dearly and was so proud of. He also leaves behind his Pa and Nanny, Harold and Barbara Monical; his Aunt Tammi, Uncle Buck and cousin Shea Blevins; his Unkie Harold, Aunt Natalie and cousins Mason and Hallie; his Great Grandmother, Arlean Penny; his Granny, Shirley Price; his Uncle Jimmy Daigle and cousin Lindsey Daigle; and many other loving relatives. Josh also leaves behind his "other sisters" Courtney Barta, Camille Barta Brightwell, Amy Orr, Kasey Holt, Jeanna Coulter and Annie Beth Cadenhead. He also leaves behind his "older brothers" Matthew and Michael Barcelo. Josh graduated from Brazosport Christian School in 2009 and had begun his college career when it was cut short by a second battle with brain cancer. Josh was a young man of strong faith who touched many lives with his kind and pure heart. He was an inspiration to many and was known for his great big bear hugs. Throughout his struggles he persevered with a bravery and determination that reflected his never failing faith in God. Josh's greatest joy was hunting. Josh was an avid hunter having started at age five with his dad Rod. Their shared love of hunting took them all over Texas and to Mexico, Canada and Africa, with their most memorable trip being the African safari. Their travels through Paris and on to South Africa have been shared with everyone who would listen. Last year Josh and Rod shared both an elk and bison hunt with Josh's other hero, his grandfather Harold. Josh also had a love for online computing and made several lasting friendships. Pallbearers will be Matthew Barcelo, Michael Barcelo, Rob Kahn, David Rizzo, Paul Hromadka and Rick Wright. Honorary pallbearers are Harold Monical, Sr., Shea Blevins, Mason Monical, Nolan Rizzo, Tom Williams and Taylor Stanley. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Brazosport Christian School or Texas Children's Hospital Oncology.

Rod and Penny, Our family will miss Josh very much. Penny, I shared with you long ago how my neice, Brittney, was diagnosed with a brain tumor the same month Josh was and my whole extended family began praying for Josh then. Although we lost Britty 2 1/2 yrs later, we continued praying for Josh daily. He has been a big part of our family without even knowing it! What a blessing he has been! We lift your family now in our love and prayers. It gives me comfort to know that when Josh got to Heaven, I know he gave Britty one of his amazing hugs, and we will all see them both one day soon! Our loss is Heaven's great gain!! Love you all!! Dawn and Pete Grimes

Dear Penny and Rod,
Elena, I and our family are very saddened by your loss. Joshua, even though was with us for a short time, showed many of us how to live, to love and to care even while suffering. He is now in his very deserving place in Heaven with the Holy Father. You and your family are in our prayers and we are encouraging you to be strong and to continue to love each God given day, just like Joshua showed us also while he was with us. May God bless you all.

Rod, Penny, and family,
I am so saddened to learn of Josh's passing. Josh was an amazing person who made everyone around him smile! He always stayed strong, worked so hard and was an inspiration to all of us! You have such a beautiful family, and although this will be so very hard for all of you, I know that you will have the love and strength from many people around you to help you through.
Luke 23:43 Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.” Josh is now healed, and I just know he's laughing, probably making crazy eyes, and telling our Lord to "Bring it on!" :) I know that heaven is a little bit better now with him there.

Rod,
I am very sorry to hear of your loss. I recall sitting on a plane, listening to your stories of you and your son hunting. A very special relationship between a boy and his father, and it sounded like you and Josh had exactly that.
May the Lord give you strength and grace during this time of sorrow.

I am so very sorry to hear of the tragedy of the loss of Josh. Even though I never got to personally meet him, I felt I knew him because of Rod's love of Josh and the sharing of his accomplishments through the years. We must know that he is in a better place now. He will be remembered. God bless all.
