Joshua Murray Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 7, 2025.
Joshua Murray, 50, passed away on February 3, 2025, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born on September 4, 1974, in Geneva, Ohio. His family moved to Texas in 1984 and he followed his brother to Colorado in the 1990s, where he found his home.

Josh was a man who embraced life with enthusiasm and joy. He had an easy-going nature that made him a pleasure to be around, and his laughter was infectious to those who knew him. He found his greatest happiness in the outdoors, whether traveling with his truck and camper, camping under the stars, gathered around a campfire with friends and family, or exploring rugged trails in his Jeep. He also enjoyed hiking and snowshoeing, anything allowing him to immerse himself in the beauty of nature.

A devoted family man, Josh deeply loved his wife, Julie, and their children-Dylan, Laura, and Owen. His family was at the heart of everything he did. If he wasn't out adventuring in the wilderness, he could be found cheering on his children at baseball or volleyball games, always their biggest supporter.

Josh is also survived by his parents, Leah and Thomas Lucas; his uncle and aunt, Gary and Almundena Weinheimer; his step-sisters Alison Carlino (John) and Jessica Dupuis (Ryan); as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Michael Christopher Murray; his aunt Gayle Brown; and his grandparents Richard and Norma Weinheimer.

Beyond family, Josh treasured his friendships just as deeply. His warmth and adventurous spirit brought people together, creating lasting memories for all who shared in his journeys. Whether gathered around a campfire or navigating a rocky trail in the mountains, he made every moment count.

Josh was a fighter. After being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in August of 2022, Josh endured several rounds of chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation treatments. He fought to spend precious moments with his family and friends, creating memories they will forever cherish. Josh vowed to live life to its fullest until the very end.

A memorial service will be held on February 15, 2025, at Vanguard Church, located at 3950 N Academy Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO 80917. The service will begin at 10:00 AM and conclude at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, please make a charitable donation in Josh's name to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network: PanCAN (Pancreatic Cancer Action Network).org/site/Donation2?df_id=6701&mfc_pref=T&6701.donation=form1" rel="sponsored">https://secure.PanCAN (Pancreatic Cancer Action Network).org/site/Donation2?df_id=6701&mfc_pref=T&6701.donation=form1

Josh's love for life and the people around him will never be forgotten. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.

I never met Josh, but felt like I knew him through stories from his mom. May he be at peace and may God watch over and bless his family.
