June 28, 1998 - July 31, 2017

MISHAWAKA - Joshua Mark Richardson, 19, of Mishawaka, passed away Monday, July 31, 2017.

Josh was born June 28, 1998, in South Bend, a son of Mark and Linda (Briggs) Richardson.

Josh's surviving family includes his parents, Mark and Linda Richardson; ten siblings, Angie (Nick) Tobin, Aaron (Alicia) Richardson, Nate (Kim) Richardson, Dawn, Matthew, Jessica, Zac, Lexie, Sammie and Mike Richardson; his girlfriend, Angelique Wise; paternal grandparents, Robert and Virginia Richardson; nine nieces and nephews; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Josh was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Marvin and Frances Briggs.

Josh was a beloved member the community and will be greatly missed by all his friends and family. Joshua grew up doing gymnastics at Gymnastics Michiana where he achieved many successes and went on to coach and teach. He became a beloved member of the GM family. After gymnastics he began diving for Double Dragon Diving Club and at Marian High School as well. Diving became his passion and skill was quickly evident. After placing 2nd at the ISHAA Indiana State Meet, he began to set his goal to qualify for the NCAA College Championships and the Olympic Trials. Josh was currently attending the University of Virginia where he planned to further his diving career. In his short stay at UV, he made a great impact with the coaching staff, faculty and many new friends. Josh was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mishawaka. In his free time he loved playing cards, computer games, and just being around family and friends. Joshua lost his battle to Bi Polar Disorder which he fought every day.

Friends may spend time with Josh's family on Friday from 4 - 8 pm in Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. 3rd Street, Mishawaka, where the Rosary will be prayed at 8 pm.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11:30 am in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 225 S. Mill Street, Mishawaka, with Rev. Christopher Lapp officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

The family would prefer memorial contributions in the form of Masses to his church or to Stanley Medical Research Division which researches cures for Bi Polar Disorder. Assistance with memorials is available at the funeral home.

I just learned today of the passing of this tremendous young man. I am so sorry to hear of his loss. I only knew him a little, as coach of my daughter's gymnastics class. We thought he did a wonderful job working with the young children in gymnastics. He is missed.

Can not believe and accept that young boy I knew from age of 2 or 3 years has suddenly gone away leaving all of us grieving! Such a tender spirit and soul ,he was! He blossomed to be an ambitious young man and suddenly this world lost him to the Lord Almighty.
I do not know how Any one can ease his family members' pain and heartache , he left. I pray to Thee to help Richardson family to have strength to handle this irreparable loss.
