HERNANDEZ DE LEON, Josie In loving memory of Josie Hernandez de Leon, Professor of Political Studies at Laurentian University, died of cancer at SRH at Laurentian Site on July 27, 2005. Born February 28th in Guiuan, Samar, Philippines. She grew up in Manila and graduated from, and would eventually teach, at the University of the Philippines. Later she worked for Senator Rene A.V. Saguisag as his Chief of Technical Staff. In 1991 she accepted a CIDA scholarship to Queen's University. She received her PhD at Queen's and was eventually offered a teaching position at Laurentian University. Ever the constant educator, she was well loved by colleagues and students alike. Surviving her are David Marshall, husband, LeRoi, Ezra, Ira, (sons) and Cyndi (daughter), Andrea Hernandez, mother, Melissa Narvadez, sister, Alfredo Hernandez, brother, Richard Narvadez, Raphael Hernandez, nephews, Carolyn Narvadez, niece, and Cynthia Marshall, mother-in-law. In lieu of flowers, friends and loved ones who wish to honour her memory may give donations to the Dr. Josie Hernandez de Leon Memorial Bursary, Laurentian University. She loved to dance. Resting at the Jackson & Bernard Funeral Home 233 Larch St. Sudbury Funeral Mass in St. Patrick's Church 39 Walford Rd. Sudbury Saturday, July 30th, 2005 at 10 a.m. Cremation at the Parklawn Crematorium Prayers 7:30 p.m. Friday (Friends may call 2-5; 7-9 p.m. Friday)
