Joyce Fuller Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Nov. 16 to Nov. 17, 2013.
Joyce Marie Fuller Joyce Marie Fuller, 59, died November 12, 2013 in Eureka, CA. A memorial service will be held Sunday, November 24th, 1:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Blue Lake. A potluck wake will immediately follow at the Mad River Grange. Joyce was born December 4, 1953, in Weaverville, California to Esther and Raymond Fuller. Joyce was a lifelong Blue Lake resident - living in the home she grew up in Joyce was a champion of animals, children, the elderly and her town of Blue Lake. She had been an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Blue Lake, belonged to the Blue Lake Museum Society, Friends of the Blue Lake Library, volunteered as an usher at Dell'Arte Theater and she was a willing volunteer for activities for Blue Lake School. Her interests included animals, sewing, visiting friends, crocheting and reading. Joyce remembered everyone's birthday and made that day special with a small gift or a card. She will be missed by those whose lives she touched. Ms Fuller is survived by cousin, Judy Christie; brother, Daniel Fuller, and nephew Travis Fuller, and many loving neighbors and friends. She is also survived by decades of dogs and cats in Blue Lake whom she loved and cared for her entire life. She was preceded in death by her parents. Thanks to Hospice of Humboldt and Eureka Rehabilitation for their wonderful care. Donations honoring Joyce and her deep love of four legged friends may be made to any local animal organization. Joyce, you will be missed! You were everything that I love about this town: friendly, honest and kind. I will never forget our fight to feed an old abandoned cat that couldn't be caught and who some wanted to starve to death. Thank you. I hope you are with everyone of those four-legged critters that have passed on, and that you helped comfort and care for while they were here. Thank you from a two-legged critter who appreciated your kindness.

No matter how much pain she was in Joyce always made cookies or cakes for me and my crew. We'll miss you Joyce - and all your funny sayings. God's speed.

So sorry to hear of Joyce's passing. Knew her from high school days at AHS. Whenever I asked her how she was doing, she would say that her feet hit the floor that morning! Now she can run, walk or fly with the Angels! Candace Rousseau

As a residence of Blue Lake I will miss seeing Joyce around. As I kid I got to know her at the baseball field when we would work the snack bar together. She was always friendly towards me, always saying hello on the street or her famous quote "Smile Kyle"(a statement she said for years to my friend whom apparently didn't smile enough for her liking) After reading other's comments I now know she was also an advocate for animals, which is very honorable as well. As I grow older Joyce will always stay in my memory as one of the kind individuals that made growing up in Blue Lake so wonderful and I hope to pay forward her smile and kindness to others.

Joyce always had a cheerful smile and "cookies" & ooooh-yes-right-there scratches behind the ear for my dogs (who greeted her enthusiastically). Though I did not know you well, I will miss your smiling face and kindness. This little town won't quite be the same without you...
