Joyce Nugent Obituary
Bastrop - Graveside services for Mrs. Joyce Mae Nugent, age 91, of Springfield, Mo, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Memorial Park Cemetery with Bro. Waylon McCormick officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday at Golden Funeral Home.
Mrs. Nugent passed away Friday, January 8th, 2021 at Cox Hospital South. She was born December 11, 1929 in Bastrop, LA to Samuel and Mary Garner and was a graduate of Bastrop High School. She was united in marriage to D.W. Nugent on April 18, 1948, in Bastrop, LA. Joyce was an avid bowler in Springfield. She was a member of the Sunny South Chapter of Eastern Star, she and D.W. were very active in the Abou Ben Adhem Shrine.
Survivors include her two children Duane Nugent and Nelwyn Mathews and husband Charles; four grandchildren, Dustin, Sarah and husband Kyle, Christopher and wife Elizabeth, and Stephen; three great-grandchildren, Brooke, Grant, and Evelyn; one brother, Donald E. Garner and wife Linda; and a host of family and friends.
Joyce was preceded in death by her loving husband D.W. Nugent, her parents, Samuel and Mary Garner; and one sister Florece.

Joyce was a wonderful, loving woman full of Southern Charm. I enjoyed knowing her through Nelwyn. Rest in Peace!!!
