FRIEND, Judith (Judy) (née Bass)
On Sunday, June 4, 2017, on what would have been the ninety-fourth birthday of her long- time love and husband, the late Isadore ("Issie") Friend. Judy passed away peacefully, with her family by her side. Loving mother and mother-in-law of Stephen Friend and Magnolia Godoy Coelho, Mona-Lee and Earl Takefman, and Gaile Friend. Cherished grandmother of Marla, Robyn and Joanna ("Joey") Friend; Jay Takefman and Jennie Schwartzman, Robert Takefman and Dr. Jackie Gordon, Keri Takefman and Kevin Greener; Lindsay, and Victoria ("Tori") Krams; Michael Friend and fiancée Nadia Martinez, and Melanie Tetreault-Friend. Proud great-grandmother of Scott, Dylan and Kimberly Slakmon; Addison and Aidan Takefman; Logan Takefman; and Austin Greener. Dear sister and sister-in-law of the late Evelyn (née Bass) and the late Saul Steinberg, Mona-Lisa and the late Ronnie Bass, Edna and the late Norman Bass, the late Sydney and the late Lil Bass, Joan (née Bass) and the late Henry Bloom; and sister- in-law of the late Fanny, the late Joe, the late Yetta and the late Annie. Judy will be deeply missed by her nieces, nephews, family and friends. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Philip Slakmon, Marilyn Lazaro, and Judy's longtime friends, Rhona and George Elias; as well as the staff of the short- term unit at the Lakeshore General Hospital for being so supportive during her final hours. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Tuesday, June 6 at 1:00 p.m. Burial at the Canadian Hebrew Cemetery, de la Savane.
