Dear Judith, I cannot believe that it is over 7 years since you left this world and I only knew you are a year and a half but you made an indelible impression on me. how can someone do so much for humanity and still have time to sleep? I am so proud to call you and Ben friends. Looking at this world you are probably crying, no screaming, "How did this happen?" and listening to the dismal predictions. Judith we need you now to help this country become human again. I miss you and Ben. Rest peacefully, mi amiga buena.
Love,
Elisa

I am proud to say that Judith was a dear friend of mine. I met her at a meeting of the Womens International League of Peace and Freedom at the Peace and Justice Center in Burlington Vermont. It was the first time I went to the meeting but she reached out to me and we went to Uncommon Grounds for a coffee. That was the beginning of our friendship. Judith was very busy, a lawyer for battered and abused women, and an avid peace advocate. She had time for everyone. I dont think she ever slept. What I remember most is our weekly coffees at Uncommon Ground. Bernie Sanders used to join us and I know it wasnt because of me. I hope that I did not have my mouth open and my eyes wide. I was in awe, but felt comfortable.
I left Vermont, but before I left I invited Ben and Judith to our house for dinner. I was so impressed that they came. Ben came with jars of preserves and tomatoes that he canned from his garden. Judith gave me a wooden Palestinian peace pin, that sits on my desk.
Judith, I miss you but I am so thankful that you were a part of my life.

Dear Ben and Family,
As International President of the Women`s International League for Peace and Freedom I had the extraordinary opportunity to meet Judith G. Joseph and witness first hand her work for peace, her devotion to peace education to children I personally highly respect and find very hopeful, therefore her work as leader of J.A.P.A. I deeply admired. I know her planted important seed for this Association to continue its committed work. Throughout our conversations I learned about hers and her mother history building peace and WILPF as an organization. I learned to respect her, even in moments when we did not completely agree in our opinions on certain matters, I felt respected. Her commitment to justice and peace were solid enough to continue dialogue. Her strength, sense of community, dedication will continue to inspire many and I will feel proud of having met her. My best wishes for you and your family, to stay strong and proud of her presence in your lives.

I worked with Judith on "Women of Action, Women of Peace," an exhibit and series of presentations sponsored by the Women's International League for Peace and Justice in Burlington in 2008 and very much appreciated her hard work and financial support on this and other WILPF projects. I will miss her presence in the world. Dian Kendrick

Dear Ben and family,
It took awhile for me to respond, the wind was kicked out of me when Morgan sent me the obituary. I did not want to face the fact that Judith is no longer in this world, walking amongst us. I met her in WILPF and I learned so much from her commitment to humanity. She tried to change the world and did so much for so many. but personally she was a great friend. I will miss dear Judith and my heart goes out to you, ben and her family she loved so much.

It was such a privilege for me to work with -- and learn from -- Judith. Her brilliance, grace, and compassion were so inspiring for so many of us. Our community is, actually and truly, safer and more just because of her. Blessings to her family.

Judith's radiant spirit gave inspiration to all those she loved and worked with. Her spirit and the meaningful life she lived will always be a beacon for those of us left behind. How far Judith exceeded Emerson's ideal: “To know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived—this to have succeeded.” Thank you, dear friend.
My heart aches for you, Ben, and your wonderful Anna and David and for all of us who loved her so much. I am with you in spirit.
