MORTON – Judith E. “Judy” Newby, 80, of Morton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 24, 2024. 

She was born on February 25, 1943, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to James Sr. and Donnabelle (Tribby) Roach. Judy married T.R. “Terry” Newby on May 15, 1965, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He preceded her in death on July 16, 2012. She was also preceded in death by both of her parents. 

Surviving are her children, Tim (Donna) Newby of Essex Fells, New Jersey, Julie (Tony) Eddy of Morton, Tricia (Brad Rogers) Cain of Morton; grandsons, Zo (Dani) Evans, Trevor Newby, Tanner Newby and Nicholas Cain; great granddaughter, Scout Evans; and brother, James (Joan) Roach of Mackinaw.

Before moving to Morton, Judy worked many years at the Fort Dodge Laboratory in Fort Dodge, Iowa.  After settling in Morton, she worked 15 years for Brad Monroe State Farm Agency in Morton and was a Mary Kay consultant since 1996. 

Judy’s love for her family dearly outshined all of her other passions. 

Judy was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Morton, where she was a member and past president of the Altar & Rosary Society. 

Music played a significant role in her life. Judy was the church organist for 50 years and directed and sang in the choir. She was also a long-time member of the Caterpillar Chorus.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 29, 2024, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Morton, with Fr. Adam Cesarek and Msgr. Gerald Ward officiating. Visitation will be held from 2:30 to 5 p.m., Sunday, January 28, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Further visitation will be held from 9 to 9:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Roberts Cemetery in Morton. 

Memorials may be made to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
