Judith Ware Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 7, 2025.
Cisco - Judith Ann Sitton Ware, long-time resident of Cisco and wife of Maxey R. Ware formerly of Westbrook, died Saturday, September 27, at the age of 82 years, under Hospice care at the Woodlands Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Eastland. Judy was born on Tuesday, February 9, 1943, in Livermore, California, to Jerry W. Sitton and Mary Dorcas Green Sitton.

She graduated from Cisco High School and attended college at SMU, where she was a member of Delta Gamma and enjoyed watching her brother, Jim, play football. She also attended The University of Texas, earning her bachelor's degree. Over the following years, Judy taught 8th grade English at Monterey High School in Lubbock and at Cisco Junior High. Later in life, she would also earn two master's degrees from Abilene universities, which led to her twenty-six-year career as a teacher of creative writing and English at Cisco Junior College, where she was tenured. She greatly enjoyed her friendships with her peers at the college and was well-loved by her students.

Judy was also a wonderful homemaker and reared three children: a daughter, Allison Leigh; and sons, Brian James and Mark David Callarman. She enjoyed her family life, creating a warm and inviting home. Years later, when eleven grandchildren made their way into the world, she absolutely loved becoming "Mom-oh" and spent as much time with them as she could. In more recent years, three great-grandchildren have been added to Mom-oh's loves, and another is on the way.

In 2015, Judy married Maxey Ware in Love County, Oklahoma. With this union came an instant bonus-daughter, Jeran Ware Cannon and her family, including three grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Judy and Maxey resided in Cisco until her passing.

Judy was preceded in death by her loving parents. Survivors include her husband, Maxey, and Judy's children: Leigh and husband Lee Dycus of Cisco; Brian and wife Holly Callarman of Ramsay, Montana; and Mark and wife Rachel Callarman of Edmond, Oklahoma; and Maxey's daughter, Jeran and husband Clayton Cannon of Colorado City.

Grandchildren and great-grandchildren include: Rhyan and husband Silas Ingram, Jovi and Eli, of Cisco; Drew, and wife Leigh Anne Dycus, of San Angelo; Savannah, and husband Dax Brunson, of Lubbock; Samuel Dycus, of San Angelo; Alaina, Shayna, and Sean Callarman, of Ramsay, Montana; Isaiah, and wife Sarah Callarman, Adeline and baby sister to come, of Hillsdale, Michigan; Ethan, Jonathan, and Zachariah Callarman, of Edmond, Oklahoma; Ledger and Jentry Cannon, of Colorado City; Jade, and husband Nick Williams, and Berkli Higgins, of Boerne.

She is also survived by her brother, Jim, and wife Linda Sitton, of Denton, and many other beloved family members and dear friends.

A memorial service honoring Judy's life will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, October 11, 2025, at First Baptist Church Cisco.

Judy will be remembered as a true follower of Jesus Christ, distinguished by her incredible kindness, selflessness, gentle spirit, love and compassion for others, and her beautifully joyful heart.

The family would like to thank the following persons and organizations: Dr. Hari Kalla and staff at Texas Oncology in Abilene; Eastland Memorial Hospital staff; Inhabit Home Health; Visiting Angels, especially Josie Jones; Windcrest Rehabilitation Center in Abilene; Hendrick North staff in Abilene; Woodlands Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, and especially the kind women who went above and beyond to make it possible for Judy to attend her granddaughter Savannah's wedding; and Solaris Hospice.
