June Seneff Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 16, 2009.
SENEFF, JUNE MARSHALL died Friday, June 12, of congestive heart failure at her home in Winter Park, FL. She was 88 years old. Born in French Lick, Indiana on June 17, 1920, Mrs. Seneff was the last surviving sibling of 11 brothers and sisters born to William and Alma Marshall. In May 2007, 125 members of the Marshall Family gathered to celebrate her life at the famous French Lick Sheraton Hotel. At that time, several of her nieces and nephews shared stories of her impact on their lives. Mrs. Seneff credited her longevity to her favorite Bible verse, Isaiah 26:3, "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee." Shortly after graduating from high school, Mrs. Seneff was named, "Queen of the Farmer's Fall Festival" in French Lick where she caught the eye of James Monroe Seneff, Sr. of Cuzso, Indiana. The two were married in Altus, Oklahoma while
Seneff served as a B-29 pilot during World War II. Together they raised three children,
Lynette, James, Jr., and Sally. Mrs. Seneff was devoted to her husband and children, and took great pride in sewing, cooking and decorating.
Because money was tight when her marriage was young, she went to farm auctions every weekend to buy items to decorate their home. None of her children - and often some of their friends - never left for school without a special meal for lunch. Mrs. Seneff's primary devotion, however, was to her Lord, which, according to her daughter, Sally, she "loved with all her being. She often told me that her primary goal in life was to reach maturity as a Christian so her children and their children would be blessed after her death." Her devotion to Christianity notwithstanding, she was also known for her wry humor. Following the death of her husband in October of 2005, Mrs. Seneff discovered in his Bible a Valentine's card she had made for him decades earlier. On the front of a plain white sheet of paper folded in two, Mrs. Seneff had drawn a simple heart with, "To My Sweetheart." The card opened to this sentiment: People search of a special way To show their love on Valentine's Day. They go to fancy restaurants - Nothing else will do . . . But I would rather stay at home And eat bean soup with you. She is survived by her daughter,
Lynnette Seneff Midyette; son, James M. Seneff, Jr. (Dayle); daughter, Sally Seneff
Hendricks (David); grandchildren Timothy Seneff (Michelle), Rebecca Sandberg (Roger), Sarah Seneff, Hannah Seneff, Jonathan Seneff, Amanda
Redman, Matt Hendricks
(Eileen), Katie Hendricks Agee (Jereme); great-grandchildren Brock, Wesley, Rachel and
Maria Seneff; Jacob, Andrew and Maggie Sandberg; Emma and Charlie Hendricks; Kiara Hendricks and Jayden Agee. A private funeral service for the family will be held Tuesday, June 16, led by Reverend
Luder Whitlock. In lieu of flowers, the Seneff Family has
requested that contributions be made to the Hospice of the Comforter, 4808 W. Central Parkway, Altamonte Springs, FL 32714.
