As a close friend of David's we have got to know the whole family over the years including memorable holidays to the lakes and Oban. We will remember Kamal as the kindest, gentlest, most generous and calm person you could ever wish to meet. Our thoughts are with you. Rest in Peace Kamal.

Kamal, one of my first and best remembered mentors as a novice anaesthetist in Sheffield in the late 80's. The kindest most gentle and patient teacher, conspicuously so in an era when learning by humiliation was the still the medical training model .. And a true minimalist when it came to anaesthesia, just the right technique always, nothing more, no show, no flourishes, and yet the more memorable for that simplicity and effectiveness.
Remembered with love, respect and thanks, and hopefully emulated still in my own practice 30 years on.

Kamal had very many excellent qualities. In particular I remember his kindness and consideration for others; not only to patients but also to colleagues. When we were trainees working round the clock, Kamal stood out as the consultant who would come in on Sunday just to allow us to get a few hours sleep. I will be eternally grateful not only for that but also for wonderful teaching and example. Rest in peace Kamal.

Kamal you were always an inspirational, calm, kind, respected friend, loved by so many. A friend who could be relied upon to succeed where others could not. If a procedure at work was difficult and we had been unable to do it, you could be relied upon to succeed. You would even be kind enough to appear to struggle for a few seconds before completing the task perfectly; explaining how you got round the problem, sharing your knowledge and skills. The world needs more people like you Kamal. Rest in peace. Gary Mills

Kamal. You were always an inspiration to me, both when I was a trainee and later when I was a consultant. Calm, capable and a very respected and loved individual by all that came in contact with you. It was a pleasure to know you as both a friend and colleague. Rest in peace. David Shepherd
