Kara Santarelli Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 8, 2018.
Kara Noel Santarelli, our most beloved and beautiful daughter, granddaughter, sister, sister-in-law, auntie, Godmother, niece, cousin and friend, left this world on Oct. 6, enveloped by her family's love, warmth and protection. She has passed to the waiting and welcoming arms of those cherished family members who have gone before her.

At the tender age of 34, Kara was taken from us by a massive and untimely stroke. Kara, always passionate and compassionate, truly good and innocent, will remain forever young and beautiful.

Esteemed Godmother to her newly born niece, Olivia Rose, she will forever preside as a guardian Angel and heavenly protector.

Kara grew up in uptown Jessup as part of the "Grassy Island Avenue Gang," but most recently lived in Peckville. She was a 2002 graduate of Valley View High School, where she enjoyed being a Cougars basketball cheerleader. She also loved playing softball. She attended Penn State University and was employed by Head Start of Lackawanna County for several years as part of the pre-school staff, a position that greatly suited her caring personality. She was later employed by Bank of America, Scranton, where she made many long-lasting friendships.

Left to treasure her memory are her loving parents, Gregory and Norina Carey-Santarelli, Jessup; paternal grandparents, Alfonso and Rose Santarelli, Jessup; brothers, Gregory and wife, Lori, North Abington Twp.; and Mathew Santarelli, Peckville; niece and Godchild, Olivia Rose Santarelli, North Abington Twp.; aunts and uncles, Bernadine and Jeep Sabia, Dunmore; Janice and Randy Santarelli, Jessup; Allan and Luann Santarelli, Mount Carmel; Theresa and Pat Kane, Jessup; cousins, Maura Santarelli and Nate Santarelli, Jessup; Carolyn Sabia, Dunmore; Danny Sabia and fiancée, Cassidy, Elmhurst; Alexis Haile, husband, Jeremy and daughter, Aubrey Haile, Shamokin; Pat Kane Jr., wife, Bekah and son, Connor, Lake Ariel; and numerous other cousins; friends; and her adored little dog, Dante.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Bernard and Pierina Cruciani-Carey; zio and zia, Augusto and Cecilia Cruciani-Crinella; maternal great-grandparents, Valentino "Valente" and Gesuina Bonanni-Galli; and paternal great-grandparents, Anthony and Josephine Vispi-Santarelli; and John and Eleanor Zabinski-Anderson.

Kara will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who knew her and loved her. Her spirit will survive as her legacy and be her family's source of strength and inspiration. Kara Santarelli has taught us that life is fragile and not to be taken for granted and to live each day with love, respect and empathy for one another.

Donations in Kara's name may be made to Blue Chip Farm Animal Refuge, 974 Lockville Road, Dallas, PA 18612; and St. Francis of Assisi Kitchen, 500 Penn Ave., Scranton, PA 18503. The family would especially appreciate donations to Jenny's Kloset, P.O. Box 52, Archbald, PA 18403, which services Valley View School District families that are in need.

The funeral will be held Wednesday from the Louis M. Margotta Funeral Home, 511 Church St., Jessup, with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Peckville. Interment, St. John's Cemetery, Jessup.

Friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. For online condolences, go to funeral home website.

I worked with Kara for about five years. We were far apart in age, me being much older but she was my Dear Friend, we spoke of many things, and we helped each other when times got tough.
What a beautiful kind and good person she was.
I will forever remember you Kara, God rest your soul, and I pray for you and your family.

Mr. & Mrs. Santarelli and Matt,
I did not know about your daughter's passing. I am so sorry to hear about this. I did not find about your daughter until it was over. As a parent; I can imagine the heartache that you all are feeling. She is so beautiful and may she rest in God's peace.

Norina, Greg and family.
These mere words cannot express the deep sorrow I feel over Kara's untimely passing.
She was a lovely person, a kind spirit and it was my pleasure to have known her as a Cougar student.
May God grant you the comfort and solace so needed at this most terrible time and well into the future.

I'm so very sorry to Kara's family and close friends. I met Kara when we were very young, her grandparents lived across the street from us in Jessup. After moving, we reconnected years and years later and she was such a light. Her passing is a terrible shame.

Dear Greg and Family: I don't have the proper words to express how very sorry John and I are for the loss of your beautiful daughter. I remember well, all the conversations we had at work discussing our children. My heart is broken for both of you. May God give you the strength and courage, you will need, during and after one of the most difficult and sad times in life. With our deepest sympathy,
Rosemary and John Lewis

My deepest sympathy to the Santarelli family. My heart goes out to you. I sat next to Kara at Bank of America and we met a few times outside of work. I am not going to use the word "was" but rather Kara "is" such a lovely person who would do anything for anyone. My God give you the the deep inner peace to know that your beloved Kara is still very much alive and still with you and that you will all be together again in eternity and this is merely a short separation until that happy day. God's blessings.

Greg and the entire Santarelli Family,

I cannot begin to fathom the immeasurable loss you are feeling and my heart aches for all of you. I remember when you would talk about your family at Siemens and the big smile that would spread across your face - I'm sure that if I could feel the love you had for your children in those moments that your daughter felt that love 1000 fold everyday.
I pray for Kara and for your family that you are able to find comfort in this most difficult time.

To Kara's family: Words fall empty on the plate of sorrow you are all going through. May the strength of the Holy Spirit be with you and help you in the most trying of times. Every parent feels your pain and is praying for you and your beloved child.

Kara was one of my best friends. She was an incredibly sweet generous caring person. When we first met, we instantly became friends and that turned into more of my long lost sister. I recently asked Kara to stand beside me as my bridesmaid, she was incredibly greatful, tearful and honored. I truly lost a great friend. My heart is broken for everyone who loved her. RIP my dear friend.
