Karen Cole Obituary
Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 3, 2014.
Always An Angel on Earth, and now in heaven, Karen Louise Cole joined her father Judge Robert R. Cole, Sr. & mother Isabelle Cole on January 3, 2014.
A native "Dallasite" who grew up just southeast of Lyndon B. Johnson Fwy (635) and Preston Road on Linden Lane was the second of three children of Judge Robert Randolph Cole, Sr. and Isabelle Contouise Pierce Cole. She attended Hillcrest High School & graduated summa cum laude in 1974 from Southern Methodist University (SMU), in Dallas, Texas.
Karen was know by ALL that knew her for her kind and sincerely compassionate heart for her family (father, mother, brother, sister, aunts, uncles, and cousins.)
Her father was the first elected Republican judge of Dallas County and served as a fiercely loyal man of the law, not scared to see justice was done. Judge Cole, was a proud former JAG serving the U.S. Navy (JAG Corps, refers to the legal branch or specialty of a military concerned with military justice and military law. Officers serving in a JAG Corps are typically called Judge Advocate General, JAG.) As a result Judge Cole was a strict man of upholding justice, morality, and proper ethics. However, the one and only person who could melt this man of steel's heart was Karen Cole. Judge Cole lovingly nicknamed her his "Sweet Pea" and he was proud to proclaim this until his death in the fall of 2009.
When it came to animals, Karen Cole had a heart bigger than her home state of Texas! She had Bermese cats and also German Sheperds in her last years. Karen also patiently raised exotic parrots from before they hatch, hand feeding them until they were able to be united with their forever home. This was very tedious and complex work, but for Karen it was her true joy.
"I will never forget the summer of 1992 at Karen's home in Flower Mound. My soon-to-be husband, her loyal and loving brother she referred to until her untimely death as 'Baby Brother'....he is 55 years old now...LOL!, "Bob" Robert R. Cole, Jr. and I enjoyed our entire summer of courtship basically based out of Karen's home that was shared with her long time boyfriend, Jeff Kelly. We would enjoy water skiing on Judge Cole's 'run-about' ski boat that he let them share. Around her kitchen table at home, the four of us enjoyed drinking 'FuKi' plum wine, eating Indian Food at Kebab & Kurry, and playing with her parrots. Karen was an important part of our wedding and was also a proud bridesmaid. Karen Cole was someone I would describe as 'Sweet as a Kitten.' She later became great friends with my mother Sandra Skaggs Menke and my grandmother Marjorie Russell Skaggs. Her early diagnosis of cancer at 57 yrs old was a total shock to many, especially her loving brother Bob Cole, Jr. We were all shocked to learn that she died of a heart attack in her own home just minutes from a hospital. The world is just a bit more dim without the bright light Karen Cole shined on everyone she came into contact with and we all miss her now, and ALWAYS!"

This Obituary was written by Karen Louise Cole's only sister-in-law, Charlotte Cole who is now married to William "Bill" Clark Taylor, on June 25, 2015, over one and a half years after her death, only after she read that all that was written on file for historical purposes was the following:
Karen was born on August 18, 1956 and passed away on Friday, January 3, 2014.
Karen was a resident of Flower Mound, Texas.
To repeat the title here:
Always An Angel on Earth, Karen Louise Cole joined her father Judge Robert R. Cole, Sr. & mother Isabelle Cole on January 3, 2014
Karen Cole was WAY more than a birthdate, death date, and the formal acknowledgement of her longtime residence so her sister-in-law who knew her since 1988 wanted to start the conversation with all the others who loved her too.
