Karen Fort Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 8, 2025.
Karen Leslie Fort, 82, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2025, in Atlanta, GA. She was born on November 22, 1943, in Boston, MA, to the late Judith Lerman Fort and Henry Fielding Fort.

A true citizen of the world, Karen lived in many different places throughout her life, spending the longest periods of time in New Orleans, LA and Portland, OR. While she never married, she had a heart big enough for many she called her "children". Her greatest passion was her ministry of opening her Portland home to high school students from Rwanda, providing them a loving place to stay during holidays and summers. Karen's generosity extended to her kitchen, where she expressed her love by cooking for anyone and everyone. She was also a faithful servant of the Lord and was involved with the churches she belonged to and enjoyed teaching and being a part of many bible studies. Karen will be missed by many whose lives she touched along the way.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Judith and Henry Fort and her sister, Lorena Fort.

She is survived by her loving sister, Donna Davidson (Chip), her nephews Chase Davidson (Alison) and Connor Davidson (Maddie) and her four great nieces, Lily, Julia, Carter and Emme Davidson.

There will be a family memorial service at a later date.

Oh, Granny K... my guardian angel. Words will never be enough to describe how amazing you were. My life wouldn´t be the same without your endless love and support. You weren´t just my grandmother. You were my friend, my encourager, and my safe place. I will miss you more than I can say. I love you so much. You will always live on in the hearts of Romy, Mika, and Iyanu Ahounou.

You truly lived and loved well! Thanks for your generosity and yummy food and opening up your home to my family, making it a home away from home. You'll be missed and always cherished in our hearts
