Karen Ann (Evans) Gank, age 60, of Mecca Township, died Monday evening, March 16, 2009, at the Cleveland Clinic. She was born October 8, 1948 in Charleston, West Virginia the daughter of the late Raymond LeRoy and Betty Lee (Givens) Evans. Karen grew up in Maryland and moved to Trumbull county with her husband in 1970. She was a 1967 graduate of Southern Garrett County High School in Oakland, Maryland. She was retired from Andover Industries in Andover, where she worked for 25 years. Karen loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, flower and vegetable gardening, yardwork and baking. She loved country music and was especially a fan of Alan Jackson. Karen loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Gordon Ray Gank, Jr., whom she married February 1, 1969; two daughters, Kimberly Ann (Rick) Mullenax and Kathleen Alice (Brad Evan) Spelich both of Mecca; one son, Kirby Alan (Angela) Gank of Smithfield, VA; nine grandchildren, Jennifer LeAnn Mullenax, Kenneth Gordon Mullenax, Elizabeth Anne Gank, Ryan Thomas Gillespie, Haley Elizabeth Gank, Kelcey Aileen Reynolds, Mackenzie Paige Spelich, Mackenzie and Bobby Evan; one sister, Sharon (Eugene) Virts of Westernport, Maryland and one brother, James Evans of Conneaut, OH. Arrangements are being handled by Shafer-Winans Funeral Chapel in Cortland, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday. Funeral services will be at the funeral home at 10:30 am Saturday, March 21, 2009, with Pastor David Vensel officiating. Burial will be at West Mecca Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Northern Ohio Chapt., 23297 Commerce Park Rd., Cleveland, OH 44122.
