Karen Ann (Maloney) Knapp

"Loving wife, mother, aunt, daughter, sister & friend"

It is with deep sadness that we announce the loss of Karen Ann (Maloney) Knapp, age 62, of Watertown. Karen passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 9, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Raymond E. Knapp, Jr. for 40 years.

Karen was born in Waterbury, CT on July 12, 1963, the daughter of John R. Maloney and the late Diane M. Maloney (Macharelli). Karen grew up in Naugatuck, and she graduated from Sacred Heart High School. She later earned her Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Mattatuck Community College and went on to continue her studies at Southern Connecticut State University. She started her meaningful career in childhood education at The Nest, in Middlebury, CT. She then moved on to Kangaroo's Korner, in Watertown, CT where she was the head teacher for over 20 years, eventually transitioning into the role of the center's assistant program director. She had a passion for educating children and ensuring that all of their individual needs were advocated for. She loved each and every single child she worked with and has left a lasting impression on each family she worked with. She will always be remembered as "Mrs. Karen", a sweet, loving, kind hearted and compassionate teacher.

Karen loved nothing more than spending time with her family. Besides her husband Ray, Karen leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters, Kadie LoGiudice and her husband Stephen of Southington, CT, Erin Knapp of Watertown, CT, her granddaughter Elsie and her loyal dog George. She also leaves her siblings, Robert Maloney and his wife, Leslie of Torrington, CT, Steven Maloney of Boynton Beach, FL, Dana Nardi and her husband, Jeffrey of Southington, CT, several nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins, and her closest friends, Susan and Kyla, among many others.

We take comfort in knowing she has been reunited with her mother Diane, parents-in-law Judy and Ray, her cherished grandparents, her longtime friend John O'Connor, and many others who she has dearly missed.

Our world will be darker without her light in it. She was the very best of us. We were so lucky to be loved by her, and she will forever be missed.

Arrangements: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 29, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 574 Main Street, Watertown, CT.

Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Watertown.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Connecticut Parent Advocacy Center in Karen's memory. Donations can be made here: https://cpacinc.org/donate.aspx

So sad to read of Karen's passing. She worked at Marshalls with us when we were just kids and was great. Gone too soon. Rest in peace.
