FREMONT - Former Fremont resident Karen (Bliss) Marquart, 67, of West Liberty, OH, passed away at 12:05 a.m. on Monday, March 21, 2016 at Green Hills Community, West Liberty. She was born on Oct. 17, 1948 in Fremont to Eldred "Pete" and Betty J. (Scherer) Bliss.
Karen was a 1966 graduate of Fremont Ross High School. She worked at K.T.H. in St. Paris, OH as a quality inspector until her retirement in 2011. Karen was a former driver instructor at Fremont Driving School and waitress at Wagner's Country Inn.
Karen was a strong Christian, belonging to Victory Church, Fremont. She often volunteered at her churches and was wonderful with the children in the nursery. Karen also attended Only Believe Ministries in Botkins, OH and First Church of God in Bellefontaine, OH.
Karen frequently packed up the grandkids on trips and enjoyed watching them playing their sports. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Not many knew this, but Karen was a secret animal lover..
Karen married Rick "Ricky" L. Marquart on Nov. 24, 2000 in Gatlinburg, TN; he survives her.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory children Lori (Jason) Bloom and Jason (Patti Ollom) Stout, Sr., grandchildren Ashley (Mike) Baker, Emily, Hannah and Elizabeth Bloom, Jason Stout, Jr. and Jacob Stout, Savannah Salazar, Brentton and Tesla Ollom, great-grandchildren Xavier Bloom, Makayla and Elijah Rowley, Cayden and Ayana Sauders, and Grayson Bloom, siblings Peggi Miller, Norbert (Cyndi), Rebecca (Robert) Witham, and Timothy Bliss, Carolyn (Harold) Billow and Hazel Fedowitz and sister-in-law Rita Bliss.
Karen is preceded in death by her parents; infant twin sons, Brent and Brian Stout; brother, David; sister, Joan Marie Zink; brother-in-law, Richard Miller; and brother-in-law, Frank Fedowitz.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 24 at the HERMAN-KARLOVETZ FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, Fremont from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with Words of Comfort being offered by Rev. Duane Dunfee at 1 p.m. Additional visitation will be offered from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Rick - So very sorry to hear of Karen's passing. I had only recently heard of her illness. I pray that you find peace & comfort in knowing that her life of faith is now complete & she is in the presence of Jesus. To the Bliss Family: I have known Karen forever since I grew up down the street on Morrison. We became close friends in the 90's before she moved away. She was such a sweet, caring person I know she will be greatly missed by family and friends.
