Karla Ann Astrike, 68, of Zephyrhills, Florida, passed away on August 6, 2023. Born on June 30, 1955, in Louisville, Kentucky, Karla was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and teacher.

Karla was a very kind and thoughtful person who touched the lives of many. She was devoted to her children, grandchildren, and all of her students whom she taught in early childhood education. Teaching children was her biggest passion, and she poured her heart and soul into shaping young minds. Karla's dedication and love for her students will always be remembered.

In addition to her teaching career, Karla found joy in traveling and exploring new places. She had a curious spirit and embraced new experiences with enthusiasm. Her adventurous nature allowed her to create cherished memories with her loved ones.

Karla is survived by her son, Benjamin and wife Nikki Astrike; daughter, Nicole Palazzo; and her grandchildren, Amanda Astrike, Ethan Palazzo, Owen Palazzo, Eva Astrike, William Astrike, and Andrew Astrike. She was also a beloved sister to Terry Brooks, Jackie Christie, and Angela Klodt. Karla was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Shirley Brooks and her grandson, Evan Anthony Braeuler.

A ceremony to celebrate Karla's life will be held at Serenity Meadows in Riverview, FL on August 19th from 12 to 1 PM. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects and join in remembering the beautiful life she lived.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Karla's memory to the National Head Start Association. Donations can be made online at https://nhsa.org/dollar-per-child/. Your support will help provide educational opportunities to children in need, a cause that was close to Karla's heart.

Karla's legacy of kindness, love, and dedication will forever be cherished by those who were fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in peace, knowing that her impact on the lives she touched will never be forgotten.

I took this photo at Nicole's in 2008. We were celebrating Thanksgiving and it may have been the one where you (Karla) overdosed the dressing with sage, lol, but I had heartburn for days. I can imagine you & Bruce now, along with mom & dad and so many other loved ones that are with our precious JESUS. Please save some of the good stories for when I join you all at the time our LORD calls me home! Love you all so very much...

I don´t know what to say. I put it off until now. Seems unreal that you are gone. I just never thought about losing my big sister. I know you are with our parents and that heaven must truly be a beautiful place.

I´m glad you lived your life. So many people don´t. I hope you were happy. I know you loved your kids and your grandkids too.

Fly high. I love you.

Karla,

You were always my big sister, even though I was a year older.

I love you and will miss you.

You touched the lives of many young children at your school, and they thought so much of you that they stayed in touch with you even as they grew older and started their own families, that says a lot about you.

Your Brother,
Terry Brooks
