Dr. Karlene Kerfoot has been an outstanding nursing leader for all of her life. I was privileged to work with her at the University of Iowa as she was finishing her PhD. She was intelligent, warm and effective. She was an excellent teacher and role model! Her legacy lives on within those whose lives she touched, including mine!

Karlene Kerfoot was my instructor at the University of Iowa for psychiatric nursing. She was enthusiastic and supportive and the instructor I most remember. I am not surprised she went on to be a positive influence on nursing as a profession and so much admired by others.

So sorry to hear of Karlene's passing. I've known her for a number of years, starting from her time spent as faculty at University of Iowa College of Nursing and as a nurse administrator at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. One knew immediately upon meeting her that she was destined to be a great leader for our profession. I consider it an honor to have known and worked with her. Deepest sympathy to the family. Dr. Karlene Kerfoot was an amazing woman, in so many aspects. She was an outstanding leader in her professional life. She leaves a legacy for many to aspire to and learn from. More important to me, she´s Aunt Karlene. She´s the fun, loving and sunshine-filled woman her family loves immensely. I have so many memories from childhood trips, family time, vacations, weddings, raising children and early morning pajama coffee talks in her living room. I cherish each of those memories and moments we got to share. You are missed KK, but I find peace in knowing you are free from pain, and resting with our heavenly Father. We love you!
