Kathleen Barclay Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 12, 2011.
Barclay, Kathy, Age 70 of Mpls. passed away October 12, 2011. Born in Bristol, SD. Mom was a woman with a big heart. She was a mom to anyone who needed one. She was a vocal advocate and fighter for victims and people in need. She always let anyone and everyone know the stories and needs of the underdog. She always expressed her opinions, even to those who might not agree and ended the discussions with mutual and warm respect. She could make anyone have a good time and feel at home with her brash sense of humor and big laugh. She enjoyed animals, growing her big beautiful gardens, and being a mother and grandmother. We lost our little sister, her youngest daughter, to breast cancer in 2009. After caring for and losing her, she waged her own battle. She would want every woman, especially young women, to fight to get their health taken care of. She would want all doctors to have young women's breast concerns to be taken care of immediately and aggressively. She had a positive impact on many people and will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. Preceded in death by daughter, Candy Barclay; parents, Harold and August Young; her dog, Chico. Survived by daughters, Carrie Barclay and Christine (Nick) Hensgens; grandchildren, Evelynn and Guillaume; sister, Mary (Miguel) Sud; brother, Gary (Nancy) Young; her dog Charlie; other relatives and many friends. Special thanks to the staff at MN Oncology (Dr. Zander, Jane, Shar), the owners and co-workers from Alexander's Mobility Services, Guardian Home Health (Nina, Emily, Heather, Andrea, Aria), and her neighbors (Mary Ellen, Debbie, John, the Seekamps). A celebration of Kathy's life will be held Wednesday, Oct. 19th, 6:30 pm, at Cremation Society of MN, 4343 Nicollet Ave. South, Mpls. Reception from 5-8 pm.
