Kathleen Kay "Katie" Housefield

Kathleen Kay "Katie" Housefield, 65, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at the Falmouth Hospital, Falmouth, MA, with members of her family at her side.

Katie was born Kathleen Kay Farrell on July 14, 1950 in Missoula, Montana. She was raised in Laurel, Montana and Powell, Wyoming, by her parents Joseph E. "Joe" and Darlene Farrell and graduated from the Powell High School in 1968.
Katie met Glen Housefield, the love of her life, and they were married on April 26, 1987 in Bismarck, ND. Katie went on to graduate with an Associates of Applied Science from the Respiratory Therapy Program from The University of Albuquerque. Glen and Katie resided in Albuquerque until 1988. They moved to Sagamore, MA, and lived in the Housefield family home. Katie worked at Beth Israel Hospital, Children's Hospital and Brigham & Women's Hospital until her retirement in 2008.

Katie enjoyed the companionship of her Great Pyrenees dogs, Sammi and Benny. Katie was a member of the Roots and Causes group of AA and attended meetings daily with her sponsor, Margie Warren. She will be greatly missed by her dearest friends Anne Marie Spada and Ruth Lumbert.

Katie is survived by her husband, Glen Housefield; her daughter, Jolene (Keith) Ward of Gulfport, MS; her son Eric Fossen of California; granddaughter Brooke M. Fossen. She is also survived by her mother, Darlene Farrell and siblings Daniel (Dorothy) Farrell and Debra Grinaker, all of of Bismarck, ND. Nieces and nephews surviving Katie are Brian (Kerry) Bazinet, Falmouth, MA; Jacqueline (Chris) Campbell, Ames, IA; James Farrell, Glen Ullin, ND; James' children Grace, Joseph and Benjamin; and Jessica Farrell, Milwaukee, WI. Surviving cousins are Bill (Donna) Linger, Molt, MT; Jim (Terri) Linger, Billings, MT; Bill Ryan, Glen Falls, NY; Richard Ryan, Glen Falls, NY and Barbara Sweet, Queensberry, NY.

Katie was preceded in death by her grandparents, her father, Joseph Farrell; Aunt Audrey and Uncle Roy Linger; Aunt Beth and Uncle Bill Ryan and cousin Jeanne Linger.

A period of visitation will be held with Kathleen's family on Saturday, April 30, from 11:00am to 2:00pm in the Nickerson Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd, in Bourne. Interment will be private.

Arrangements under the direction of Nickerson~Bourne Funeral Home, Bourne, Massachusetts.

Katie showed me many new tricks for growing premature babies in the NICU.
