Kathleen Larocque Obituary

Published by Saskatoon StarPhoenix from Sep. 27 to Sep. 28, 2013.
Kathleen Larocque (nee Brennan)
With dignity and grace, Kathleen Larocque (nee Brennan) (Dec 1920 - Sept 2013) passed away on Sept 24, 2013. Predeceased by husband Stuart and brothers and sisters in England, Kathy leaves 5 children, John (Dot), Jim (Beth), Ian (Nyla), Maureen (Len) and Keith. 8 grandchildren and 7 great- grandchildren. Mum is also survived by her sister and best friend Mary Larocque and family and many nieces and nephews in Canada, England, and New Zealand. Mum came to Canada from England as an adventurous war bride, spending most of her young married life in Conquest, Sk where she made many friends and all her children were born. Mum always talked of coming to a new country that had no running water or electric lights but she still became a proud Canadian. Moving to Saskatoon in 1964, Mum stayed home to raise her children and in 1970 took her all time favorite job at E.D.Feehan High School. Mum truly enjoyed her time with all the students and staff and many lifetime friendships were born. Mum had a non stop, wonderful sense of humor that was infectious causing bouts of belly laughs and endless giggling. Mum loved to sing and was in her day, an amazing dancer. There was always life and laughter in mums world that was freely shared. Mums best times were when she was with her grandkids, telling them about her life in Huddersfield, WWII.,and all her exciting childhood adventures of which there were many. Mum was a huge NHL and CFL fan and winter would find her watching her favorite; curling, rarely missing a game. Mum was also a truly gifted 'Ace of Spades' player, often taking the large pots much to the chagrin of her grandsons. The endless stories and all the great laughter may come to an end but the memories go on forever. Mum will be deeply and painfully missed but the battle is over. Thank you to staff on 5 Meds at SPH and all the girls at "home". Mum, the bravest woman I know, passed peacefully, surrounded by love and light. A mass will be held Monday, Sept. 30/13 at 1:00 pm. at St. Patrick's Church, 3339 Centennial Drive, Saskatoon, everyone is welcome.

Your Mom was a special lady. We were so blessed to have her with us in the Care Home for over a year and a half. The home will not be the same without her wit and sense of humor.
Have been praying for you all since your Mom was in the hospital. So thankful that she is suffering no more.
Marleen , my Mom and the staff and friends at Sunshine Haven.
