Kathleen Mary Manion

Kathleen Mary Manion passed away on November 26, 2023 at the age of 78, following a long battle with PSP. She lived a happy, fun filled life, and will be missed by many.

Kathy was born on December 30, 1944, the eldest child of Mary Schoen and Attorney Francis Vizner Manion. She spent her childhood in West Hartford, graduated from Oxford School, and went on to receive a Bachelor's Degree in English Literature from Marymount College in Tarrytown, NY.

Following college Kathy worked in a variety of administrative positions in Baltimore and Boston, where she was banquet manager of the Lenox Hotel. She loved to travel, and lived in St. Maxime, France for a year before coming back to Connecticut to settle in Collinsville and begin her career as legal secretary for her father. Kathy was a weekly communicant and active parish member at the Church of Saint Ann in Avon, served on the homeowners' board of Whispering Woods, and volunteered for several local political campaigns. She was devoted to her church, her friends, and her family, never missing an opportunity to celebrate birthdays, holidays, and special milestones of those she loved.

Summer was Kathy's favorite season. She was proud to be a third generation member of the Madison Beach Club where she spent her younger years sailing, swimming and working on her tan. Later in life she traveled there weekly to sit in the sun, enjoying the company of many lifelong friends. In the winter months Kathy was content to curl up on the couch with one of her many beloved cats to read a good book or enthusiastically cheer on the UCONN women's basketball team.

Kathy will be dearly missed by her two sisters, Fayne Molloy of Meriden, CT and Lori Riley (Terry Low) of Stonington, CT, her nieces and nephews: Kathryn Lawson (Marco Famiglietti), Geoffrey Molloy (Kit Ingui Molloy), Erin Riley (Matthew Crowley), and Meghan Reynolds (Patrick Reynolds), and their children Alex (Caitlyn Landry), Peter and Julia Lawson, Amanda and John Famiglietti, Oliver Molloy, Paige and Connor Crowley, and Jack, Wyatt and Graham Reynolds.

Services will be provided by the Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Ave. West Hartford, CT. Friends are welcome to visit at the funeral home on Sunday, December 3, from 3:00 to 6:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Paul Church, 467 Alling Street, Kensington, CT on Monday, December 4, at 11:30 am. Burial services will be at Fairview Cemetery in West Hartford following the Mass.
