Kathryn Rachel Cohen Goodfriend

Kathryn Rachel Cohen Goodfriend was born in Charlotte, NC, on September 10, 1959 and raised in Norwood, NC. She passed away at age 57 on June 13, 2017 at Presbyterian Hospital while surrounded by family and friends. She graduated from South Stanly High School, earned her Bachelor's in Political Science at University of NC-Chapel Hill, and went on to earn her Masters in City Planning at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. At UVA she met the love of her life, Jason Goodfriend, who she was married to for 24 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lois and Julius Cohen of Norwood and is survived by her husband of Matthews, her sisters Ruthi Cohen Joyner (Dennis) of Locust, and Sandy Cohen Persons (Jeff) of Orlando, FL, and two brothers, Harry Cohen of Norwood and Robbie (Amy) Cohen of Norwood. She was raised with a strong Jewish faith and was a proud American. Kathy had 6 nieces and nephews who she loved dearly; Leah and Jenna Joyner, Payne Persons, Riley, Julianna, and Jake Cohen. She will be greatly missed.

Funeral will be held in the Chapel of J.B. Tallent Funeral Service, 1937 Sharon Amity, Charlotte, NC at 2:30 pm, with receiving of friends 30 minutes prior to the service on Thursday, June 15. Interment to follow at Hebrew Cemetery, 1801 Statesville Ave., Charlotte. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Kidney Association.
