Kathy Askew Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 11, 2025.
Kathy Lynn Askew (Farley), age 66, passed away on September 9, 2025, in Birmingham, Alabama. Born on October 18, 1958, also in Birmingham, Kathy spent her life rooted in the community she loved.

Kathy retired in 2024 from Advantage Sales & Marketing after eighteen years of dedicated service. Her work ethic and commitment to excellence left a lasting impression on colleagues and clients alike.

She is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband, Marion Orville "Mo" Askew; her children: Tommy Burton (Shannon), Randy Newell (Shannon), Dennis Newell (Heather), Misty Newell, and Jonathan Askew (Kasey); and eleven cherished grandchildren: Hannah, Emily, Caleb, Connor, Cameron, Gracelynn, Aiden, Trey, Lily, Samantha, and Sofia. Kathy is also survived by her mother, Joyce Daily; four sisters; and three brothers. She was preceded in death by her father, William Eugene Farley.

Kathy's life was marked by passion and resilience. Though petite in stature - she possessed a fierce spirit that defined her character. She faced life's challenges with strength and determination and fought bravely until the end. Her love for family was unwavering; she was fiercely protective of those she held dear and equally stubborn when it came to standing up for what she believed in and those who knew her loved her all the more for it.

Kathy found joy in simple pleasures-reading a good book or spending time on the golf course. She was a member of the Roebuck Elks Lodge and had a special place in her heart for Veterans. Her volunteer work supporting their needs reflected her generous spirit and deep sense of gratitude.

A woman of faith, Kathy was a Christian who firmly believed that the only path to eternal salvation lies through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her family takes comfort knowing she is now resting in His divine presence.

A celebration of Kathy's life will be held at a later date to honor the legacy of love and strength she leaves behind.

May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.

Yesterday

My thoughts and prayers to the family. I worked with Kathy at Advantage. I lovingly nicknamed her "Sunshine" which she got such a big kick out of it. She was such a great friend. Fly high, Sunshine
