Kathy Ann Brakora passed away at the age of 70 on September 29, 2024. Born on April 6, 1954, Kathy lived a life marked by her profound kindness, insight, and vibrant passion for nature and animals.

Kathy is survived by her loving husband, Dave Brakora; her daughter, Michele Ewald-Shornak (Ed); sons, Justin Ewald (Amanda) and Jeffrey Brakora (Jess); and her cherished grandchildren, Tyler Zbik, Drew Shornak, Madeline Shornak, Isabella Shornak, Emma Ewald, Brooks Brakora, and Graham Brakora. She was a surrogate mother and a cherished member of many extended families, spreading her love and warmth generously.

Kathy's enthusiasm for life was paralleled by her love for camping, gardening, and organizing family gatherings that celebrated their collective love . Her home was often filled with laughter, lively discussions, and the kind of wisdom that only a life well-lived can impart.

Services to be held on 10 am, October 7 2024 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 5125 Cascade Rd, Grand Rapids, MI 49546. A celebration of Kathy's life will follow at 2 pm in Canadian Lakes at the Highland Haus, 11560 Belle Isle Dr, Stanwood, MI 49346.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Kathy's memory can be made to the Humane Society, honoring her love for animals. Kathy's legacy of compassion and love will live on through these acts of kindness.
