Kay Hile Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 4, 2025.
Lansing - Kay was born on June 26, 1952, in Lansing, Michigan and went to be with our Lord on August 19, 2025 after a heroic 8.5-year cancer battle with the awesome support of the tremendous team at the Sparrow Herbert-Herman Cancer Center. She was the daughter of Robert and Marion (Hubbert) Patrick. She graduated from Everett high school, and later from Michigan State University, with a BA in Education. She started, owned and managed the KLP Group which supported multiple non-profit organizations. A celebration of her amazing life will be held at the Eagle Eye Golf Clubhouse, 15500 Chandler Rd., Bath Township, MI 48808 on Sunday, September 21 at 10a.m.

Kay married James H. (Jim) Hile in 2005. She loved football and together they enjoyed going to Michigan State football games as well as watching up to 12 professional recorded football games each week. She enjoyed being a Nutty Knitter and worked on "the same" Cat blanket for multiple years with her friends. (Somehow, over wine and laughter, the cats grew but the blanket never did)

Kay Patrick-Hile had the brightest smile in the room and boundless energy. She viewed life as a glass always totally full and whether it was an event, or a simple gathering, people gravitated to her. She cared about every single person that she met, had a constant smile and was kind to the core. Even at the end of her life, she was positive and upbeat, always asking about others and absorbing the love from those around her and returning it in kind. She always made everyone feel special because to her, they were! To know her was to love her!

Family meant everything to her! She had special decorations and traditions for every occasion, and she was the glue that kept everyone together at every holiday and family event. She definitely missed her calling as a party planner.

She leaves behind a family that loved her beyond measure. Her husband, Jim/Sparky; her brothers, Michael (Shirley) Patrick of Lansing and Robert (Judy) Patrick of Lansing; her niece, Lisa (Frank) Valencia; her nephews (and Godchildren), Francesco and Lorenzo; and her nephew, Scott (Mary) Patrick. She also leaves behind her furry children, Thunder and Lightning.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her mother and father-in-law; Alice and Howard Hile; her sister-in-law, Barbara K. Johnson, as well as her furry children, Mia, Sugar and Spice.

Anyone who knew Kay had happy memories and stories about her. As she would want, we hope to share those stories and smiles together by celebrating the beautiful person that she was, both inside and out on September 21st.

Donations in Kay's name can be made to the Herbert-Herman Cancer Center, % of the Sparrow Foundation 1322 E. Michigan Ave. Lansing, MI 48912

Saint Mathew phrase, "well done, good and faithful servant" comes to mind when we, as a family, think about, and remember Kay.
Always a joyful person, full of positive energy and genuine interest to whomever the situation may present . Kay's beauty, which ran deep, was equaled by her unbending courage and strength, and we are all better for her example of living with "grace, class, and dignity". Our family is better, and grateful, to have the honor and pleasure to call you Kay, friend!!!!!
Godspeed Kay Hile....
