Kay Losinski Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Apr. 3 to Apr. 4, 2023.
Kay Losinski, born Kay Marie Robinson, passed away quietly at her daughter's home in Oakland, California, on Feb. 21, 2023, shortly after her 92nd birthday. She was surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren,

Kay was born Feb. 12, 1931, in Detroit, Michigan to Everett and Mary Robinson. She was the second of five children: Jay, Kay, Tom, Eunice (Skilton), and John. She is survived by her youngest brother, John; her four children, Lorrain (Dang), James, Sueanne (Isaacson), and Matthew; her eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She grew up in Detroit, Ferndale and Royal Oak during the Depression and WWII. Her parents worked many hours, out of the house. Her mother, being a nurse, was away often, until she passed away from tuberculosis when Kay was 16. For the rest of her life, she was very close to her father.

Kay graduated from Royal Oak High School. After graduating, she worked at the Hollywood Market on Livernois Road. She met her husband Daniel Losinski through mutual friends and was married at St. Dennis Catholic Church in Royal Oak. She resided in Clawson, Michigan from 1952 until 1986 when she moved to Oakland, California to live with her father and eldest daughter.

Kay worked at Hudson's department store at Oakland Mall from its opening in 1968 until 1985. She also worked until her late eighties at her son-in-law's surgical practice, in California.

Kay was frequently acknowledged by the people she met as "one of the nicest people in the world." When she was not helping others, she enjoyed working on her genealogy, completing puzzles, playing cards, and reading mysteries, as well as carrying on her father's love for stamp collecting. She passed on her lifelong love for movies to her children, and grandchildren.

The family will gather in her remembrance at the parish mass at Noon on Wednesday, April 5, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Royal Oak, 730 S Lafayette Ave., Royal Oak, MI 48067. There will be a memorial service for her at the Oakview Cemetery Chapel, 1032 N. Main St., in Royal Oak at 2 p.m. on the same day. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen (https://www.cskdetroit.org/ways_to_give) or St. Mary Catholic Church, Memo: Charities.

Kay will be greatly missed. She will be remembered for the love and care she showed to every life she touched.
