Kay Reynolds Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 6, 2025.
Kay Ann Reynolds (née VanSlett), age 79, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2025, in Hartland, Wisconsin, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on July 13, 1946, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Kay lived a life defined by love, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to her family.

A proud graduate of Granville High School's Class of 1964, Kay began her professional journey as a school secretary while raising her three young children. Her dedication to both family and work eventually led to the founding of Modern Cabinet and Restaurant Equipment-a family business she built alongside her beloved husband Pat. Kay then went on to finish her business career working for GMR Marketing until she retired.

Kay's greatest joy came from being with her family. She was the devoted mother of Jennifer (Michael) McLeod of Mukwonago, WI, and Allison (Brian) Bender of New Berlin, WI. Her love extended deeply to her grandchildren-Lauren (Dustin), Jayson, Colt (Olivia), Gracelyn (Kyle), and Boone- and great grandchildren Asher and Silas Bernau, each of whom held a special place in her heart. Kay also cherished the bond she shared with her sister Eileen (Al) Braun and brother Neal (Mary) VanSlett. Kay leaves behind many more close relatives and dear friends whose lives were enriched by knowing her. Her memory will live on through every act of kindness inspired by the example she set.

Kay is was preceded in death by her dear husband Pat; her beloved son Jayson; her parents Art and Ethel VanSlett; her in-laws John and Lilian Reynolds; and her brother Art VanSlett Jr. The family finds comfort in knowing that Kay is now reunited with them in peace and love.

Kay's gentle spirit touched everyone who knew her. She was the most loving, selfless soul-her quiet strength and boundless heart made those around her feel safe and cherished. Through kind words and thoughtful actions, she exemplified what it meant to love unconditionally. Her presence brought calm; her absence leaves an irreplaceable void.

She found joy in life's simple pleasures: tending to her garden, preparing meals for loved ones, taking long walks, and spending time surrounded by family. These moments reflected the essence of who she was-a woman who gave freely of herself without ever asking for anything in return.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Hartland Terrace Assisted Living for their exceptional care during Kay's final chapter. Having spent a lifetime caring for others, it brought great comfort to know she received the same kindness and attention she so generously gave throughout her life.

We will carry Kay's love with us always-grateful beyond measure that God chose us to be part of her beautiful journey. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her. A Celebration of Life will be held on August 16, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 03:00 PM at Tuscan Hall 409 Delafield Street, Waukesha, WI. Please join us to celebrates Kay's life and share your memories.
