As a young Youth Group Minister at St John the Apostle in Hialeah, in the 80s. I was Blessed to come to know and help you Kaye. Your conviction, courage and loving promise to your daughter, moved me and has challenged me during my entire life. While thinking and praying for you yesterday Kaye, on the Anniversary of you returning to the loving arms of our Lord, I prayed in hope that one day we can again come together as I too will celebrate a joyful reunion with you and Edwarda.
I can only imagine what it must have been like to have heard "welcome home loyal and faithful servant"
Rest in peace Kaye till we meet again, keep me in your prayers, as I keep you and your family in mine.

Dear Kaye and Edwarda

May the God of the Universe, Mother Mary, St.Ann,and St Anthony. keep you forever strong and diligent in your work. Colleen your strength and recovery has inspired me as well. Thank you for letting Wayne tell the world about you all

Dear Colleen and Edwarda:

I wish to join in the celebration of a great life! that of Kaye. I learnt of her love from Dr Wayne Dyer's audio books sent by our daughter Paula from Brisbane, I took an interest in the O'Bara family and searched the net. Only the love of God could have inspired Kaye. I still pray for Edwarda and Coleen and Ricky and all the good people Kaye impacted.
I learnt of her passing soon after she did, and my heart goes to her baby Edwarda and all of us she taught the meaning of love. Kaye,God reward you.

I first heard about Kaye O'Bara when I attended a lecture given by Dr Wayne Dyer. I bought the books and began giving them as
gifts. I was able to visit Kaye and Edwarda and she was so kind to me. I was traveling and just had mail forwarded and so surprised to read about Kaye's passing. She was the epitome of love and kindness. I will continue to help. Condolences to Colleen, Edwarda and the rest of the family.

I met Kaye 6 years ago after reading, "A Promise is a Promise". I called her on the telephone and asked if I could come to meet her. She said,
"SURE, come on down!" She greeted me and my wife at the door with a hug and a kiss! That in a nutshell is Kaye. She was always happy to have an old friend or new friend over for a visit.

I will miss the lunches I had with her at Shula's restaurant and the visits we had at Edwarda's bedside. We would talk for hours about the world, our families, politics, sports; you name it, she could teach you something every time you spoke with her.
I always felt honored to know her and just be her friend. I will miss the long conversations we had and the time we spent together.

I know that my life has been inspired by this angel who has shown us what it means to watch out for and care for God's children.

I look forward to the day when your daughter will awaken and tell us all about her journey!

I can't thank the Lord and the Blessed Mother enough for the gift of our friendship.

I look forward to seeing your smiling face in my dreams...

I was so fortunate to have had Mrs. O'Bara for a teacher at Notre Dame Academy in 1969. I knew she was a special lady then , and was proved right through the years she devoted herself to her daughters care. I received a special note from her in February and will treasure her kind words. May she now rest in heaven with Our Lord.

Dear Family,
My deepest condolences to you for the loss of your much loved mom, grandmother and friend. I kept in touch with Mrs O'Bara over the phone as she would pray with us for my brother in law who is recovering from a brain tumor. The last time I spoke to her was to thank her for keeping Jason in her prayers and to happily tell her Jason's scans were clear!. She was so happy and wishes us all the best. She said Jason was the same age as her grandson. I am so sorry and sad to hear of her passing. Mrs Obara always made the time to speak with me even though she was always so busy with your dear sister. My thoughts, prayers and best wishes are with you all. Your mom was a unique and special lady who will be long remembered and never forgotten. Take care and God bless. Roxana from Australia.

Dear O'Bara Family --
I first heard of Kaye from Wayne Dyer's audio tapes, and immediately sought to find the book "A Promise is a Promise." The story moved me so much, I bought copies for family members and friends. I've talked with Kaye several times over the years, and I always felt lifted by her gentle words and gracious heart. She truly made a monumental difference in her lifetime. I know that you're all very special people; and I wish you much peace and happiness in the years ahead.
Many Blessings & Mary Keep -

Dear O'Bara Family:

I was sad to hear of Mrs. O'Bara's passing. She was my teacher at St. Rose of Lima many years ago; then we re-connected a few years ago and exchanged well wishes every so often. She was living proof of the strength of a mother's love for her children. May God bless and keep her. I wish peace to your family and to Edwarda.

My deepest sympathy to Colleen and family. Mrs. O'Bara was my algebra teacher in 1969 at Notre Dame Academy. Throughout the years, since Edwarda became ill, I have felt great admiration and respect for Mrs. O'Bara for her unwavering and steadfast motherly love towards Edwarda. May she now rest in the peace of the Lord knowing she has served Him well. She leaves behind a legacy of love and a great example of what it is to be of a loving, Christian mother devoted to the daughter who needed her so much. God bless.

You & your husband, Joe, helped my mother get her first job as a public school teacher at Scott Lake Elem. at the ripe age of 59. She retired at 79 yrs. She is gone now as are all the strong women of your era. God bless you & your family.

I was deeply touched to read the O'Bara story. It is an especially inspirational one for me. I am a single father who has cared my profoundly handicapped daughter since she was 2 years old. It has been 26 years now. This story has renewed my faith and determination to continue with my baby. Please accept my deepest condolences to the family and my most fervent prayers for Edwarda’s continued care and safety.

Dear Kaye:

I loved you like my own mother and I know you loved me like a son. I will miss you dearly. You were right when you told me it would be hard for me when it would be time for you to go to heaven.

I feel so blessed knowing you and thank you for all the love you have shown me.

Know that you will always live on in my heart for the rest of my days and I look forward in seeing you at the gates of heaven when God brings me home.

For now I will continue to help Colleen and Edwarda and know I will always be there for them as I was for you.

I am happy you are with Joe together with the Blessed Mother your loving earthly comforter for so many years.

I have read about your wonderful love and devotion to your daughter for many years, and yesterday here at work I cried, in reading of your passing. I know you are with Our Lord, and that He has comforted your daughter. The world has lost a bright light in you. Thank you for your selfless devotion and what, without thinking about it, you showed the world. Rest now with the Saviour.

To the O'Bara Family:
As Mrs. O'Bara's student at Notre Dame Academy, her character and sheer presence were our role model. Although I know that the Lord calls us when it is our time, I always thought you would outlive most of us. You are such a wonderful Mother, and whether you are here on earth or with the Lord you will conitnue to keep your promise to Edwarda. I visited you as a child while I was part of the youth group at St. Johns Catholic Church and we used to go on the weekends to cut your grass and help you with chores around the house. But the one thing that has stuck with me for the past 25 years are the power of the prayer in Edwarda's room. I would always choose to hold her hand and could feel the presence of the Holy Spirit as we prayed. God Bless you and your family always, you have been a blessing to many of us. Although i am sorry to see you go from the earth you are legend here and will never be forgotten. Your name carries more weight than any celebrity, because you were the true meaning of Mother here on the earth. Lots of Love.

I just read your story and want to offer my deepest sympathies. Your mother was what every mother should be and what I aspire to be: a servant of God in the home. May you be blessed by memories and knowing your mom had to have been given strength from God. Bless you as you care for Eduarda. May our Lord Jesus bless you all with true faith and trust in His death and resurrection for Eternal Life.

I didn't know Kaye. The story of her love is proof positive that we are created in the image and likeness of God. Just hearing her story proves that Christ's work is still in progress in a world that has lost its way. My prayers are with her and all her family.

Dear Coleen and family may Kaye now rest in peace with her God. I taught with Kaye back in the mid 60s at St. Rose before Edwarda got sick. I visited your home almost wkly in the 1974 before leaving for Italy. Both your parents were a great example of love lived to the edge and now Coleen it sounds like your family intends to continue this mission of love.
I pray for each of you and know that Kaye will continue her watch of love from up her new home.

With my heartfelt sympathy to Colleen and family, I will always remember my dear friend and colleague - she was a Saint. I had the joy of teaching Edwarda in 9th grade. She is now with God in a special place and I know that we will be praying to her for her intercession.

Edwarda, Colleen and Family:
I was so sorry to hear of your loss. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help at this time. God brought Greg and me to Kaye in Johnstown in 1997 when Wayne Dyer spoke about "A Promise Is A Promise". We were so inspired by her unconditional love that we made every effort to visit Kaye in the past 10 years. Knowing Kaye has been an honor. New she is at peace and reunited with her husband, Joe and the heavenly Father. We will miss you Kaye. Love, Greg and Rosemary

What is Love?
A.- Mother Theresa
B.- Kaye O'Bara
C.- St. Maximillian Kolbe
D.- All of the above
If you answered D you are correct. All were the personification of pure, true and sublime love. Even though B is no saint, she did earn 1000 times over a place in Heaven by her good deeds on Earth. If this world only had more O'Baras. Quite an example to emulate. Love at its most beautiful expression. God bless the O'Bara family.

Kaye O'Bara provides a model of human courage, compassion, and dedication for us all. We need not search further for one whom we can admire and emulate. All are enriched by this woman's example throughout her life. She is a saint who walked among us.

Mrs. O'Bara,

As a small child attending Visitation School and church; Father McKeon had us all saying prayers for Edwarda when she first took ill. Over the years, I continued praying for you a Edwarda. It wasn't until I became a mother myself, that I realized how deep a love for a child could be. I know God has a special place for you, rest in peace..you have taught us all so very much.
