Kenneth F. Nelson, 81 Kenneth F. Nelson, of Owatonna died June 4, 2013 at his home of natural causes. Memorial service is scheduled for Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Brick – Meger Funeral Home (1603 Austin Road, Owatonna). Friends may greet the family on Monday, June 10, 2013 from 4-7 pm at Brick-Meger Funeral home and one hour before the time of service on Tuesday. . A private interment will take place at Lake Sakata Cemetery in Waterville, MN. Military honor's provided by the Steele County funeral unit Ken was born on August 24, 1931 in Waterville, MN the son of Lafayette and Barbara (Stanek) Nelson. He attended school in Waterville before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force. Ken served form 1951 – 1971. He was a cook and received his GED while serving his country. Ken served two tours in Korea, a tour in Guam, seven years in England & then finished his 20-year military career stateside. Ken was united in marriage to Marlene Sage on October 24, 1975 in Morristown. The couple made their home in Owatonna. Ken worked for the Owatonna Canning Company, Viracon, Jostens and retired from Federated Insurance Company in 1990. Ken is survived by his wife, Marlene; his children, Cheryl Marie Roberts of Seaside, OR; Lee K. Nelson & Tracy Nelson both of San Bruno, CA; Heather (Charles) Tennant of Tucson, AZ; Esther Nelson of Chicago & six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his two brother and two sisters. Memorials are preferred to the donor's choice.
