Kent Borden Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 3, 2016.
Borden, Kent Kent J. Borden, 49, of Beaver Dam passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at his home after a remarkable fight against a cancerous brain tumor. Kent was born on December 14, 1966 to Ralph and Marjorie (Havemann) Borden in Beaver Dam. He was a 1985 graduate of Beaver Dam High School and also a graduate of UW-Madison. As a young man, Kent worked at Sentry Foods, the Borden family grocery store in Beaver Dam. He later worked in sales and ran his own energy auditing company in Milwaukee. Kent loved the outdoors especially hunting and fishing. He enjoyed music and was considered a "foodie" who loved cooking, and eating. Kent competed in two WI Iron Man competitions. He was considered a conservationist who was very conscience of caring for the environment. Kent will especially be remembered as a wonderful friend who was always willing to help, share, enjoy life's wonder. Kent is survived by his brother, Brian Borden; his god-daughter, Avery Smith; and further survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, many, many special friends as well as his special companion, his pet dog, Dexter. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jeffrey. A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, May 6, 2016 from 1 PM until the time of the memorial service at 3 PM at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with John R. Leiting as celebrant. Burial was held on his private hunting land. Memorials in Kent's name will be directed to the Dodge County Humane Society, Wisconsin Public Radio, or the Friends of Horicon Marsh Education & Visitor Center. Deepest and heartfelt gratitude to the angel that has helped and shared Kent's difficult journey these last years. Joe Schiavone you've blessed us all! Kent was such a neat person and wonderful friend to all. The last time I saw Kent was at our 20 year high school class reunion where he addressed the BDHS class of '85. Kent was our class president and always well respected and loved by all.
RIP Kent, you will always be remembered for your kind soul, friendly & outgoing spirit, and infectious smile.
You're in a better place now,
Be well, my friend . . .

Peace, PK

Kent is one of the most kind and sweet guys I have ever known. He was always the life of the summer party at Tim and Michelle's house. His 3 dogs were also the life of the party! I always called Kent the Dog Whisperer, he had a way with all the dogs at the summer party and they would follow him around like the Pied Piper! He is a special guy and leaves special memories with many people who's lives he touched. Kent you will be missed but always loved. Jean Hull

Brian, you have my deepest sympathy on the loss of your brother. I remember him as one of the friendliest, upbeat kids in the neighborhood. He was a good friend of my sons as well. His former cub master, Paul Dehler

I'm saddened to hear of Kent's passing. It has been many years since I have seen Kent but the big smile is fitting. My heart goes out to his extended family and the community of friends that have been touched by Kent's kindness and spirit. Peace.

I met Kent through Joe, who is an angel. I enjoyed spending time with him, getting to know him and from those times realized I was in the presence of a very special man with a good sense of humor, kindness and a great smile. I admired how much he loved his dog Dexter, his courage and strength. I feel very privileged to know him!

Brian, the Klipstein girls along with their parents are truly sorry for the loss of your incredible brother. Kent was a great friend and always gave his heart to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. Our parents still loved him even though he drove his motorcycle past their windows late at night.

Brian and family, I am so sorry to hear of Kent's passing. He was such a fun kid to be around when we were growing up. I was able to visit with him awhile back and we talked about his illness and were able to share a hug. That was nice because it had been years since I had last seen him. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Kent and I re-connected a couple of years ago. I had the chance to know the sweet and gentle boy I had first met in 8th grade social studies as a kind, generous, and thoughtful gentleman. He had a beautiful smile and sweet little giggle. He showed incredible grace in the face of his illness, and taught me a lot about how to confront adversity in my own life. I'll miss you, Kent. Thank you for gracing my life!
