Kermit LYNCH Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 23, 2017.
Mr. Kermit Malcolm Lynch, Sr., 98, of Midwest City, OK went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 21, 2017. He was born December 21, 1918 to William J. and Blanche (Culberson) Lynch.

His interest in sports began at an early age. He was an exceptional athlete, excelling in basketball, golf, tennis, swimming and softball. He became a member of the National Softball Hall of Fame Men's Fast Pitch in 2008. He was known throughout softball as the "wonder pitcher" for his pin-point precision.

He served his country proudly as a WWII U.S. Army Corp veteran.

He married his sweetheart, Theda "Gail" Thompson in Amarillo, TX on July 21, 1958. They were blessed with three children, Kermit, Brent, and Susan.

As a man faith, he became an ordained minister in 1952. For over 15 years, he dedicated his time and missionary service to give hope, education and the Gospel to impoverished people of Haiti. Oftentimes, he was called upon to give an impromptu speech; he was an example of 1 Peter 3:15, "be prepared to give an answer to everyone, who asks you."

Kermit enjoyed traveling, golfing, spending time with his family and friends and witnessing God's Word to everyone he met. He was a member of Del City Church of Christ.

Kermit was preceded in death by his parents William & Blanche Lynch; sister Louise Lynch; 4 brothers Devereaux, Melvin, William Jr., and Kenneth. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Gail; children Kermit Jr., and wife Gail, Brent Gravel, Susan; brother Don Lynch and wife Sharon; 3 grandchildren Candice Frederick and husband Tommy, Marley Lynch, Anthony Lynch; 3 great grandchildren Catie, Brooke, Jake and a host of relatives and friends.

The family would like to express deep gratitude to Dr. Adams and the staff at Norman Veterans Center for their exceptional care for Kermit.

Arrangements under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, Del City, Oklahoma.

I loved listening to Kermit teach from the Bible at Mid-Del Christian Church! He would talk nice and slow and with a soft voice. He was very smart! He blessed many people in his live and served Jesus Christ wonderfully! I know that Jesus will say, "Well Done! Good and Faithful Servant! Enter your room in the mansion prepared for you!" See you one day in heaven brother, Kermit! My Husband Robert finally accepted the Lord; thanks for praying for him and our family. Tell Robert I said "Hi, honey".

Kermit Lynch was serving as the preacher for the Stroud Christian Church when Peggy and I moved to Stroud, Okla., in 1971. A year or so later we became members of that church (and, later, I would serve there as an elder and still later as the preacher). I found out that Kermit knew my maternal grandparents, John & Veda Cauthen, out in the Fresno area because they were all members of the "Non-Sunday School" Church of Christ. One of Kermit's brothers was the preacher for the little congregation. We loved Kermit and Gail for their kindnesses to us and for their unwaivering devotion to the Lord Jesus Christ. He was a true soldier of the Cross.

I really enjoyed Kermit as our preacher. We loved to hear him preach. Gail was a lovely woman too. The kids were very sweet. So sorry for your loss. Karen (Huckaby) Thatcher, Oklahoma City, Ok

Kermit was a special person in my life. I'm thankful for the love, forgiveness, and grace he gave so freely to me. I am thankful he was my daughter's granddad. I have loved him and hope to see him again someday in a much better place.
All my love,
