After a sudden death on Saturday, February 23, 2019, Our Lord called Kevin (KC), 20 years old, to join his recently departed grandparents Patricia and Laurie McCaffrey. KC grew up in Kentfield and was attending Santa Barbara City College. KC recently graduated from Marin Catholic High School, with athletic honors, earning 7 Varsity Letters in football, tennis and cross country. KC loved the camaraderie of his teammates, classmates, and "Selmo Crew". He was captain of the MC tennis team and earned All-League MCAL and MVP. KC was currently playing for the Santa Barbara CC tennis team. In addition to sports, he served in the BSA, achieving LIFE level. KC was also very proud to serve 9 years as an altar server at St. Sebastian and Marin Catholic. To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

Not getting to see who you would become will always be a tragedy in my life.
April 12, 2020
It has been about a year since the untimely leaving of one of the kindest souls I've ever known. KC brought this side out of me that has been absent since he left. The few years we had together painted a picture of what the perfect friendship was supposed to be. He was selfless, caring, wonderful, and funny. The memories we had are countless and the memories we are yet to create are even greater. Because I do believe I will see you again my friend, and when that time comes we will sit in the car, listening to music, on our way to tennis. Because that's all I want. I could care less about superficial adventures if I could just sit in that car next to you one more time, because that's what we loved. I no longer mourn for you KC, I celebrate and anticipate the moment I see you again, for I know that God put you on this Earth to make me into the person I am today. I love and miss you more than you know. To my amazing and loving friend KC, till then.

KC was a huge role model for me during my freshman year while playing MC tennis. He showed up to every practice with the best attitude and constantly made everyone laugh and smile. He was not only an amazing leader but taught me to see the bright side in all negative situations. You'll always have a place in my heart KC. Love you brother

KC was such a close friend throughout high school. Coming into Marin Catholic it's always tough finding friends and when I met KC, who was a junior at the time, instantly reached out, urging to be my friend. He soon convinced me to join the tennis team, where we would hit around every day and mess with eachother; he always knew how to put the biggest smile on my face. KC would drive me to practice every single day and we started to have special songs that we would just go crazy for; he never judged, even if I was a few years younger. Yes, many may remember him as the tennis captain or an alter server, I'll remember him as the most kind, genuine friend that anyone could ask for. I remember skipping practice sometimes (don't tell Fanny) with him just to go on a hike and talk or go to the bay to go swimming. He would never put someone down, but instead would highlight all the good aspects of your life and he would work to make it better, no matter what it was. He had a hard time showing certain emotions to his friends, yet that one emotion we saw constantly was happiness, and that's what kept me going in harsh times. I was horrible saddened to hear about my old friend KC's death, and it put me into this depression. But quickly I noticed that there's no point to remain in sorrow, because this beautiful kid had a fantastic life, and even if I may not know, he made my life fantastic. He's going to bring these selfless, and amazing characteristics with him to heaven to spread his love to even more people. All the memories and good times are things that I will remember for the rest of my life. Perhaps I now picture you as a guardian angel watching over me, and the only thing that I want to do is give the world all of the wonderful things that you, my mentor, taught me. I will love you and miss you my friend, forever.
Sincerely, Will Magnuson (your fellow Milk Squad Companion)

We cherish the memories of KC as a sweet, polite young boy playing on Quisisana, walking to elementary school with our kids, and helping pick up the neighbor's paper each morning. We are so sorry for your loss and send our condolences.

May Kevin Rest in Christ's Peace. I was honored to have taught him during his Junior Year at MC. He was a great kid and we enjoyed the Giants 3rd WS ring together in 904 that school year. He was a great sport w a good attitude and faith in the Lord. May Jesus take him in and give peace to his mom and family and friends.
